Eric Dickerson has the most 140+ yard consecutive games as a rookie at three. (from what I read, it still stands)

These came in 1983, games 4,5, and 6.

Gurley is set to tie this record also in games 4,5, and 6, ironically, but in his first 4 starts verses Dickerson's first 6 starts.

If Gurley does this against the Browns, game 7 in STL against the Niners is his shot to top Eric Freaking Dickerson! A record that has lasted 32 years!

That season, Dickerson earned All-Pro, Pro Bowl, Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.

Now, Dickerson also had most rookie rushing yards (1,808), most rookie rushing TDs (18), and most rookie rushes (390).

To top ED's yards record, Gurley needs to average 135.9 YPG.

To top ED's TD record, Gurley needs 1.72 TD per game.

To top ED's carry record, Gurley needs 30.54 carries per game.

I don't think the yards or TD's are out of reach yet, just highly unlikely. But some huge games could change my opinion!

Dickerson

Good Lord! I'd be extremely happy if that happens, but those numbers are insane.

I definitely think Gurley is going to beat Dickerson's YPC from that year. He's averaging 5.7 so far but that number is skewed because of the Steelers game. If we are only counting his two starts he's averaging 6.23 YPC. Hopefully he can also tie ED's 140+ yard game streak this weekend. Go Rams!

20 TD's for ED. Just amazing
Gurley yet to score a TD, thanks in part to his unselfishness against Arizona

Man, Dickerson was insane. Back to back 190 yard games? Jesus.

If Todd hadn't had the knee injury and we still got him, I think he does that too. He left yards on the field against GB and Zonanthat a 100% Gurley doesn't leave on the field.

He's that freakish.

Hell, I wouldn't mind if he breaks ED's rookie seasonal rushing record---1,808 yards. I mean, he's only 1,494 yards from tying it as it is. :sneaky:

I just watched some college highlights of Gurley and it's impressive. While he had holes sometimes a lot of times he didn't and found a way to bounce it outside or just push a defender off of him to get through. Even when he had small spaces to get through he get into and out of the space so quickly. He also makes people take bad angles because he is deceptively fast, not because of his size but because of his gait. I saw a few players closing and then within a moment it became clear the angle was wrong and they didn't have a chance.

One thing.......I didn't see any receptions in the highlights. Did they not use him in the passing game or is he poor at catching and running?

Wow, good info, thanks for posting....
That is damn impressive if Guyley can do it....the line he is running behind is not where that line ED had was....not even close. Impressive.

Gurley had 441 yards receiving in his Sophomore year alone! Believe me he's the best receiving back the Rams have. He's a smooth route-runner, has soft hands, and turns the corner quickly.

Jesus Christ, the still image for that video looks like he's sprinting horizontally along an invisible wall.

Watching these games live and now looking back....That Jets game was Dickerson's "coming out" game....He really put his stamp on the league...
Gurley has already done that IMO...it's all about consistency....I actually think Gurley can become better than Dickerson...due to Fisher and his offensive philosophy....

Gurely is a beast....Catches, soft hands, you name it...he was the best player in college last year...everything you'd want Less in a player......I bet he can throw the rock too...I'd love to see a hb pass or a flea-flicker from him soon ...have some fun out there(y);)

Gurley could have sick rookie numbers if he started game 1.
Well, he could still have sick #'s :)

I hope he runs for 185 yards and 3 td's on Sunday.

Book it!

Actually, I think one of the risks for Gurley not tying the record is that they will start passing to him soon and that may eat into his rushing yards.

I'll look for some receiving highlights, but I'll take you guys at your word since I know you follow college ball.

That leap over the goal line was pretty nifty!!!

Uh... do y'all realize that Gurley is currently the #16 rusher in the NFL with 314 yards, ahead of Mark Ingram, Jonathan Stewart, Alfred Morris, Joseph Randle, Eddie Lacy and Lamar Miller among others?

And did y'all realize that he's tied for second-most 20+ yard rushes with 5, only one behind NFL leader Le'Veon Bell?

All of this while being tied with Marshawn Lynch (who has 182 yards) for the 32nd-most attempts?

He's also leading ALL NFL RBs with 5.7 yards/carry.

What a fucking talent. Man. I didn't realize ANY of these things until right now.
