Although Matthew Stafford may not play into his 40's, he clearly has no intention of letting up any time soon (very encouraged by his presser). So let's say he gives us 5 years or more in horns before retiring or moving on to another team.

What exactly would you expect of him in his time here to be considered "The Best Ram QB of the modern era"? No Van Brocklin here. I only got on this bus with Roman Gabriel.

If he leads us to 4 playoff runs, and 2 SB victories, does that do it? 2 SB wins the only number that matters since that gets us past Warner? 3 SB appearances? 5 NFC Championship appearances? Anything else?

I have unrealistically high hopes for his stay here. I admit it. But I am just going to say for the record that I predict he achieves enough during these next years so this title can be claimed without any arguing whatsoever between Rams faithful.

The metric I would choose is 2 SB wins, or 1 SB win with more than 2 SB appearances.

Great question.

I think he has the opportunity but not sure the rest of the team can help him meet that 2 SB wins.

I know the QBs get too much credit and too much blame for the team record so I try to look at more of their stats. But, even that you have to someone on the other end catching those throws.

Are Woods and Kupp going to be here for 5 more years? Akers and the run game? AD?

I trust the FO but will be interested to see how the next few years in the draft and FA go with the losses we’ve seen there.

I think Super Bowls are a team accomplishment, to include everything from the front office to the staff on top of the roster. Certainly QBs factor in the most of any position but making it all about that isn't something I agree with. Look at Marino. The guy got drafted by a team that couldn't put it all together, whose head coach was past his window. Imagine if he had been drafted by the 9ers or Giants or Redskins of that day. He'd be a constant for best ever conversations.

So trying to apply that to this conversation I'll say I want to see consistent winning QB play from him. Low rate of mistakes and dumb shit. If he does that I am confident that this staff and front office give him enough roster to take his place in a lot of the QB conversations that currently omit him. He's viewed as a second tier QB and rightly so. He's basically what Goff should become if he keeps working. But IMO his grasp of the position means he's ready to be thrown into an offense like this with good players around him.

He's gonna be a revelation IMO. Media and fans are gonna view this guy differently after 2021 and playing for a top org like ours.

With Stafford & McVay working together, I think it will just come down to finding the best complimentary players, ... we are close at WR and pretty well set at RB, get the OL in order and the sky's the limit. jmo.

I think I a 5 year span (lets say), a realistically 1 SB win and perhaps 2 total appearances should be realistic. Add in a few division titles and playoff appearances, and you could consider him the best ever due to the fact that, that would be extraordinary considering a 5yr span, and we'll never know what could've been with a 10yr+ Stafford career as a Ram.

Only if McVay was here - under Fisher he would be a 7-9 QB

If he doesn't win at least one SB its a fail because that means that we gave up too much to get him.

I think 1 SB win with 2 SB appearances would put him where we all want him to be, but making it to the playoffs for for years would be nice too.

Jeff Fisher was a Superbowl head coach when Steve McNair was his QB
That was like Jeff's third season or so and he pretty much went downhill from there with only a few winning seasons.

I think a couple of them when he had a running back go over 2000s yards in one season and over 1600 the other - if I recall correctly

Fisher’s success seems to have been heavily reliant on having some good assistants along with players.

Too bad he put the Rams offense in a Kamora and would release his grip.

I think the real story there is how great could McNair have been if Fisher wasnt his coach. Man, if he could have played in Pardee's run and shoot?

We all know that football is the ultimate team sport, but I‘ll say this.

If Rams don’t make it to the SB, it won’t be Stafford’s fault.

Couldn't have said it any better.

I expect him to play well - wins and losses have become a crutch for fans to use for or against a QB they do or do not like.

Statistically he would have to surpass Kurt's 1999 season at least once and have 3-4 years of "elite" QB play to pass him. Very unlikely but I expect Stafford to end up 2nd on this list with a large gap between number 3.

I hope he can beat Tom Brady and the refs in the Playoffs. Do that and I'm happy. My former team and my current team are 0-3 in championship games against that douche bag. I detest him greatly. I detest him getting all those calls and the Bill Bellicheat for taping our 2001 walk through even more. We can never get that back.
