Anytime an NFL legend shares his opinion, we should be all ears.

This time is no different.

The Los Angeles Rams have had a rich tradition of great teams and coaches, none might top former Head Coach Dick Vermeil who won a Superbowl with the team in 1999 after a long hiatus or “retirement” so-to-speak.

Vermeil shared his opinion on current Head Coach Sean McVay and it was nothing but gushing over his potential greatness:

Vermeil claims that McVay can be one of the greatest coaches this profession has ever seen, and who’s to argue? What McVay has done in his short 1.5-year career in Los Angeles has been downright legendary. Vermeil believes that his early exposure to football through his grandfather — John McVay — has to do with some of his success. That could very well be true as McVay was born into a life of football, it’s consumed him in his entirety. McVay is not only an offensive genius and innovator, he possesses an uncanny ability to connect with players.

As we wind down towards the end of the 2018 regular season, Sean McVay has a chance to cement his status as at least one of the greatest coaches in Rams history, and probably one of the best starts as a Head Coach across league history.

It's hard to for see any potential pit falls such as fatigue, burn out, failure to adapt and innovate, etc... That being said... the future for the Rams franchise is bright as a fucking Super Nova.

No doubt. The only thing that is a total drag was the delay of one year for the opening of the stadium! The colseum needs to experience a Super Bowl winning Rams team for the first time in its history, I guess, to erase the scum memory of the Raiders winning one there...

True, but the man had the gift of delivering a speech as though it was coming directly from his mind and heart. He was an exceptional speechwriter himself, but like McVay he could recognize and utilize the talent around him.

Both from families of Irish descent.
The Kennedy family is political royalty.
The McVay family is football royalty.
JFK was youngest to be President.
McVay was youngest Head Coach.
"Sean McVay" rhymes with "JFK".
Both are known for their communication skills.
Both played Quarterback.

What does it all mean? Nothing.
But I wouldnt mind if McVay had a security detail...

Really proud of what Coach has done thus far. Rams front office just need to not F it up. Keep the focus on good drafting and balance that defensive side of the ball a bit more. All the great NFL dynasties were able to keep offensive/defensive balance and all the hoopla over offensive football is going to lead some GMs to think they can neglect defense but those teams will suffer.

DBs who can cover and have ball skills, and front seven players with rush skills. That is going to be the priority into the future even moreso than it already was. We need DBs badly IMO.

Success is the greatest challenge for an NFL front office. They have the best young head coach in the NFL. They'll continue to have their staff poached, but for right now at least the Rams are more immune to that than most successful teams because nobody is going to want to hire Wade as HC and he doesn't want that type of job.

If I were the Rams front office I'd have big raises coming this offseason for McVay and Kromer. Kromer is the guy teams will target on our staff this year IMO. They can potentially hire him away as OC and McVay seems to be a guy who is behind promotions, but if he gets an offer from a team with a passing game knowledgeable head coach IMO the Rams need to say no.

I would love to see what mcvay learns from Phillip's . He will need to work on his defensive knowledge and experience if he plans on coaching for a long time .

Seems like a number that will never be touched. Doubt belichick coaches for another 3 years.
