Way that dude whines I can see why his boss has him out there. After that he's probably going to get moved from the sports desk to weather permanently. :laugh4:

Re: the windchill here this morning yeah it's terrible. Porch thermometer reads zero and the wind is howling. Absolutely nasty.
I cancelled my dialysis appointment this morning because it was too freakin' cold.... Hopefully I won't kick the bucket!

day three , stuck at home , :dizzy:

this is the highway that leads south out of town

HWY 71 is closed and rendered impassable from Clay county to the MN state line. This video of a jack-knifed semi on HWY 71 near Fostoria, IA. Clay County Sheriff tells Siouxland News that this is life-threatening weather, please shelter in place.

Starting to thaw around these parts now - Southwest Washington State. (not far enough from Olympia and too close to Portland!)

Last 48 hours been down around 20° - then added about 3/4" of ice to everything... We'll likely survive, but it is taking forever to bust above freezing....

When I lived in Seattle it wasn't the temperature that was hard to get used to, it was the length of the winter. Born and raised in LA I found it hard to adjust to the radial length of days between summer and winter. I lived on W 65th for a while and would walk to work a lot of the time. Used to stop halfway at a wonderful bakery for hot coffee and pastries for breakfast. I'd sit there for half an hour sometimes longer. During the summer I'd be out fishing Lake Washington or the Sound and get back before it was dark only to realize it was almost 11 pm.

Now in AZ, i know it's winter because my GF wears a T-shirt to bed. I don't know why because she's got the thermostat at 74 and there is a quilt and blanket on the bed. Thank God I have solar on the roof.

What part of the valley do you live? I used to live in Fresno and Visalia.

I'm in Merced. About an hour north of Fresno. Where men are men and sheep are nervous. Safe sex is finding the goat that doesn't kick.

Saw something about 25+ people died in the Buffalo area in this recent storm. Might get people to go easier on them the next time a game is moved
