Chris Long pulls Kyle Long out of fight in Bears-Rams

A mini-scuffle involving the Long brothers broke out Sunday during the second quarter of the St. Louis Rams' 42-21 win over the Chicago Bears.

After Bears quarterback Josh McCown was crushed while attempting to throw a pass, Bears guard Kyle Long got in a tussle with a Rams player who had fallen to the ground away from the play. Long appeared to kick the fallen Ram.

Older brother Chris Long then came running off the Rams' sideline to pull his sibling off the pile.

The Bears were lucky Kyle wasn't kicked out of the game for his boot. There is no automatic ejection for coming off the bench in the NFL, so Chris wasn't penalized.

After the game, Kyle Long apologized via Twitter.

I want to apologize to the fans for losing my cool today. Not a representation of the person that I am or the Bears. Shouldn't happen.

Really thought coming of the bench was going to get him a fine, glad it won't. Big brother looking out for lil bro, always nice to see.

I've been critical of Chris Long's leadership ability after he lost is cool and threw a punch during the Carolina game. I'm glad to see that he's maturing. It was a risk to run onto the field from the sidelines, but ultimately it showed a willingness to be a leader in tough circumstances. Well done.

I said on twitter I thought he was risking an ejection, but was corrected by @MikePereira

my question is... how will the Rams locker room react? I mean he came running in to protect his bother from a scuffle with a team mate.

Maybe I saw it differently.

Perhaps he was.

Perhaps he was just bringing peace to a scuffle?

I think he helped the situation while helping his brother. So was a win/win. Extra helping of Turkey on Thanksgiving!!!

Not saying the team mates would think he was in the wrong... Blood is thicker than water.. but hopefully they dont take offense to the fact

Nah. He didn't help Kyle stomp a Ram, he stopped the fight and that's it. This won't cause any locker room hostility. If it does, this team is destined to sink.

It looked to me that CL was coming in to aid his own teammate and keep his lil bro from doing something he would regret, or possibly gettin his ass kicked if any other member of the Rams had gotten there before CL. Nothing wrong with what he did, KL could have really hurt the DL he was kickin if allowed to continue.

I mean there COULD be some guy who had another axe to grind who exploited it ,but my sense is ,this team is so relieved to be winning without Sam they are all focused on the important things.
Something I loved was Pead catching the 2 point conversion, let him contribute,I'm still not convinced it's him instead of DR we cut loose if we get a back in the draft
