I am sure it was never the plan to develop JJ, only to have him leave in his prime. Thats the hard part with having the youngest roster in the league. If they're good, they are going to cost a bunch when there rookie deals are up. The trick is locking them up the year before they hit the market. Rams tried, JJ bet on himself and won. You had to notice how big his loss was in the SF game. Rams would have won at least one of the games they lost if JJ was at CB.

With the new CBA it's so hard though. These guys are getting much smaller deals as rookies and if they play well they know going to free agency means BIG paydays.

I can't blame any of them one bit, and truthfully I think most of us would agree. If you can go to a team that is willing to pay you several million dollars more how can I say that's "bad".

Especially if it's a state with no local or state taxes, that can be a significant amount of money. And for mid/lower level free agents 2-3 million dollars more over a few years can mean a lot. For a guy signing a 75MIL deal it can be 10MIL or more in pocket.

He's matured a lot and gives more thoughtful answers than he did when he was a rook.

I know some people are pissed that he left, but that's the biz, that's how it shakes out sometimes.

I fully expect Donald to go to the highest bidder too.
:hellno: Very Funny!! :stop: IF the Rams where to let Donald get away it would be the Biggest mistake they have ever made!! Surpassing when they Let Hack-Saw Reynolds go to the 49ers or letting Night-Train Lane go to the Lions!(y)

Well if you remember it wasn't Reggie that made the call. It was God. Gawd called upon him. The Browns also brought him in and gave him a nice leather Browns jacket.

He was called to action by that little racist ass brain of his that probably weighed less than a baby mouse.

And by the money Green Bay paid.

It was amazing to hear him tell us about how those Mexicans can fit a lot of themselves into a room too! Wait, maybe it was those Asians. Or the fags. I can see the fags wanting lots of people piled up in a room, sounds kinda faggy. OK wait, are fags a race?

There is video of this, and it's hilarious.

I know don't speak ill of the dead. I've never ever bought into that. I'll speak ill of them anytime hjahaha.

Though I do feel I have good organizational skills. Mebbe he was right.

Packers' White discusses 'sin' homosexuality in speech

CBS SportsLine wire reports
March 25, 1998

MADISON, Wis. -- Most people invited to speak to the Wisconsin Legislature give five minutes of pleasantries, get a few moments of applause and go home.

Lawmakers weren't expecting the earful Reggie White had in store for them Wednesday.

They thought the Green Bay Packers star and ordained minister came to talk about his community work and a recent trip to Israel.

White did, but his nearly hour-long speech also included remarks on homosexuality, race and slavery that turned the Assembly's applause to stunned silence.

White said the United States has gotten away from God, in part by allowing homosexuality to "run rampant."

HOMOSEXUALITY IS a sin, and the plight of gays and lesbians should not be compared to that of blacks, White told lawmakers.

"Homosexuality is a decision, it's not a race," White said. "People from all different ethnic backgrounds live in this lifestyle. But people from all different ethnic backgrounds also are liars and cheaters and malicious and back-stabbing."

White said he has thought about why God created different races. Each race has certain gifts, he said.

Blacks are gifted at worship and celebration, White said.

"If you go to a black church, you see people jumping up and down because they really get into it," he said.

Whites are good at organization, White said.

"You guys do a good job of building businesses and things of that nature, and you know how to tap into money," he said.

"Hispanics were gifted in family structure, and you can see a Hispanic person, and they can put 20, 30 people in one home."

THE JAPANESE AND other Asians are inventive, and "can turn a television into a watch," White said. Indians are gifted in spirituality, he said.

"When you put all of that together, guess what it makes: It forms a complete image of God," White said.

White said later that his comments were about coming together as a society and were not meant to stereotype the races.

"This is the first time I've been at a loss for words," Assembly Minority Leader Walter Kunicki, D-Milwaukee, said after White's speech. "You can still tell from the tension in the room that much of this was offensive."

White was invited to speak by Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen, R-Waukesha.
Umm..feel better? I was speaking to Reggie White's obvious Hall of Fame potential in Philly....and I'm sure that if the Eagles had offered the right amount of cash, White might have heard a different answer from God....No matter, Donald is a once in a generational talent, that you don't let go of...

I feel fine.

It won't be the Rams choice to "let go of" it'll be Donald's and if he is lights out the Rams can franchise him twice but if he wants to go somewhere else because they will pay him more he will do just that.

Ouch!!!! Damn Les! I'll go back to watching the cubs smack my Dodgers around....less painful.

Maybe they will stick around long enough to get smacked around by my hometown team the Indians.

I stopped watching baseball years and years ago but it's good to see the home team in the World Series. This could turn out to be quite a year for CLE if the Indians win it. That parade will be bigger than the one the Cavs had, and that one was nothing to sneeze at. It was the 6th largest victory parade in American pro sports according to an article I read shortly after it happened. The Indians could blow that out of the water since they have a much larger fanbase.

It is a tough choice, no doubt and one that I'm sure they are going to do everything to avoid by signing him early. But that won't be easy because Donald will command a record contract for a defensive player and that can cap strap a team. Like the Dolphins with Suh. However I'd take Donald over Suh all day long. His agent will be encouraging him to "shop around" and will probably get called by every team in the NFL so this is not going to be easy, and it isn't just a matter of "pay him" because other teams may have more resources available, or may have money and a chance to win, or who knows what else that will be attractive to him.

The tax in NJ/NY is higher than Cali in JJ's case. Question, could they have tagged JJ and signed Tru?

I think the Rams were in negotiations with JJ up until the season started, then he shut them down after he says the team made an insulting offer (or something like that)

at that point I knew in my heart he was gone

He said he stop talking during season last year when they offered like 9-10 mill. He said he knew he wasn't coming back before season was ovdr

Because of what I've read about JJ, at the draft and since... I've been a sceptic of his ability to stay clean off the field, but he's a good player and is focused to have success on the field.

Kudos to JJ.
Seems to have really matured.
Focused and very professional.

if they're smart they'll extend him after this season. sign him up for a better rate. if he knows he will get his hands on some real cash 2 years early he may sign for a fair rate rather than the highest bidder rate.
