It worked so well the first time, the Rams chose to replicate their 2017 London itinerary as closely as possible. After staying in the Eastern Time Zone through Thursday’s practice in Atlanta, the team took a red-eye to London, arriving Friday morning.

In Sean McVay’s first season, the Rams connected a road win in Jacksonville with a 33-0 trouncing of Arizona in the U.K. Might Cincinnati be in for a similar fate?
“Came [to London] the same time, kind of kept a very similar schedule,” the head coach said after Friday’s practice at The Grove. “We’re hopeful for a very similar result.”

By the Bye
Currently situated at eighth in the NFC framework, notching consecutive wins away from home before the bye would be huge for a team that just a week ago was trying to fight off a three-game losing skid. Given the schedule they’ve played, the miles they’ve logged, and the injuries they’ve overcome, 5-3 would be a sizeable accomplishment. But it would also set the stage for an incredible second half.

Under Sean McVay, the Rams are 4-0 going into and coming out of a bye.
It feels like this edition of the Rams is poised to peak at the right time and play meaningful football down the stretch. But stubbing their toe against the 0-7 Bengals is not an option.

Win it For Whit
Very cool note from Travis Langer, of award-winning Rams P.R. department fame, about left tackle Andrew Whitworth. Sunday, he has a chance to be the 12th starter in NFL history to defeat all 32 franchises.

Big Whit has been very transparent about how his tenure in Cincinnati ended after 11 seasons. And his teammates want this one for him.Tight end Gerald Everett told me on this week’s Rams Revealed, “He hasn’t said a word about it, but that’s one of those unspoken things; we definitely want to get that done.”

Right on Targets
Another topic we covered was the stark contrast between the first and second halves Everett played in his hometown of Atlanta. Many of you noticed the disconnect with Jared Goff early on, as the third-year tight end was targeted seven times but caught just one. After the break, however, he hauled in all three passes thrown his way, including a 33-yarder and a touchdown.

“You know, I don’t think anything changed. Just having that confidence in each other,” Everett said of getting on the same page with Goff at the half. “Wherever he puts it, I’m going to try my best to go get it. And I just want him to be able to let it go without any doubt.”The top three games of Everett’s career in terms of targets have all come in the past four weeks.

British Royal-tie
The Bengals have only played one London game in their history, and it was a 27-27 tie in 2016… versus Washington and offensive coordinator Sean McVay.

It remains the only tie in the NFL’s International Series.Zac Taylor was the offensive coordinator at the University of Cincinnati that season (Bearcats, not Bengals). He would join McVay in Los Angeles a few months later.

Taylor is still in search of his first NFL head coaching win, something McVay hopes is right around the corner, back in the United States.“I think if there is anybody that is meant to handle a little bit of adversity the right way as a leader with a consistency approach, to continue to just battle and come on the right end of it, I think it’s Zac,” McVay said of his former receivers and quarterbacks coach.

“Hopefully, he’ll get that thing going after this week.”The Bengals will also take their bye after returning from London. Their schedule resumes with a trip to Baltimore in Week 10.

Mundt Force

One of the revelations of the Rams being more multiple with their offensive personnel lately has been the blocking ability of Johnny Mundt. At 233 pounds, he’s the lightest of the Rams trio, but that didn’t stop him from pancaking Vic Beasley last week. And according to Pro Football Focus, he graded even better in pass protection.

What About Woods
Robert Woods has a rushing touchdown this season, but the fact that we’re almost at the midway point and he doesn’t have a receiving score is a statistical stunner. Then again, it wasn’t until his eighth game as a Ram that he caught his first touchdown, and he had two that day in New York. So perhaps 2019 has something similar in store for Woods in Week 8.Never has he endured an eight-game drought within a season.

Bengals Rushing Disparity
As previously noted, the Taylor Era in Cincinnati is not off to the best start. In particular, they’re getting crushed in the running game on both sides of the ball.
In seven contests the Bengals have rushed for 372 yards. They've allowed 1,323. You will not be surprised to learn that those figures are last in the NFL. For analytic context, per NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Cincinnati rushers have been stuffed on 31.3% of their attempts, easily the highest rate in the league.

The Rams have been much-improved against the run in 2019, and a stout performance this weekend could solidify them as one of the league’s top defenses going into the second half of the season.

Shutdown Corner Candidates
Unlike last week, when Jalen Ramsey was charged with shadowing future Hall of Famer Julio Jones, there doesn’t appear to be a true No. 1 right now for the Bengals.

A.J. Green has yet to play this season and has been ruled out for Sunday. John Ross is on injured reserve. That leaves Tyler Boyd as Cincinnati’s primary receiver. So perhaps that’s where Ramsey will gravitate.

It’s interesting in this regard, though: The NFC West is seen as a division without an All-Pro wide receiver.

Much as we love Cooper Kupp, Brandin Cooks, and Woods, here’s where rival receivers rank league-wide in receiving yards per game this season:
SEA Tyler Lockett – 20th
ARI Larry Fitzgerald – 30th
ARI Christian Kirk – 34th
See what I mean?

Sunday could actually provide some insight as to how Wade Phillips might deploy Ramsey against more evenly distributed receiving corps like those in San Francisco, Seattle, and Arizona.

How Will The West Be Won?
Quick word about that division race to finish. The NFC West goes into Week 8 as the only division in the NFL without a losing team. Six divisions have multiple teams with losing records.Meantime, the 49ers, Seahawks, Rams and Cardinals have combined for an 18-8-1 start, and three of those losses were head-to-head.

If Rams lose only one remaining game( 8-1), they can take the division---and that is about their only chance . Bears, Ravens, 49ers and Seattle are very beatalbe......but, they just isnt the Rams year with injuries and just about every player playing worse than they did last year........when Bobby Evans replacing Blythe, then maybe it becomes their year....because they need to cram it up the middle, and Blythe gonna be doing that gig.

49ers are not so good, and their schedule gets tougher...and in fact, I think they lose to teams like Carolina...and maybe even the Falcons...yes, those Falcons---my point is the 49ers can't put up 30 points every single game, and teams like the Falcons could.....yes, wishing, I know. 49ers got Seattle twice, right, and the Saints and everyone from the NFC North is tough.....so, 49ers could go 11-5...but come on, they won't go 10-6 will they?

Rams are better than Seattle, but I can't say they will take a playoff spot from them....I ain't no homa simpson.

I think the 49ers are overhyped. They had a good stretch against weak teams and then caught the Rams at a bad time. I expect them to start losing some games and leveling out to who they really are. Which is maybe a little better than average team.

The Seahawks are the team I think we are chasing but I do think if we shore up the OL the Rams will catch them and win the division.

At this point, just get into the playoffs.
Once in everyone is 0-0.

Hard to see with an OL in transition.
Assuming a win this week and two wins bs Arizona (which are big gimmes) going .500 in the listed games puts them at 10-6.
Seems about right.
That’s not winning the division and may make a wildcard tough.

We haven’t seen the Rams at their best but they have 2-3 weeks to shore it up before they hit the hard part of their remaining schedule. Then it’s One game at a time with little room for failure.

Keep pace? They're barely above the Cardinals at the moment. Those pretenders ahead need to start losing games.

The Rams will have a tough time unless they fix the Center and RG position. Almost every Ram metric is worse this year than last year the reason can be summed up for the most part the OL. We must make a trade period. We do not need Allen learning on the job he is 1 year and 7 games deep. Need either Glenn or Scherff at RG move Blythe to C and this will help the run game, the playaction game and give Goff a cleaner pocket.

9ers defense is legit. To the point where they might ride it into the playoffs as NFC West Champs. But I think Garoppolo is going to hold them back.

Looks like a 3 way dogfight for the division to me. And Arizona is no easy draw either. So just win one at a time and get in the playoffs.

This may b Whit's last season. He needs to go out as a Super Bowl winner. Every Horn has to man up and become a Battering Ram force of nature. The future is now!

Center isn't the problem, but they must replace Blythe to get the run game going. He's the anchor dragging keeping this run attack from getting going.

The division title is still undecided. They lost to both Hawks and Niners so they will need help. But if they can sweep the rest of the division games that puts them into a tie with the Hawks, and if the Hawks sweep the Niners then the Rams have a shot. But they need help from other teams as they don't completely control their destiny in terms of the division title.

The Rams can't be concerned about that. They must focus on simply winning out the rest of their schedule and go 13-3 which gets them into the playoffs as a division champ or top seed wildcard. Once they get into the playoffs, they let the chips fall where they may. The Ravens and the second SeaHawk game and the Cowboys look like the biggest challenges left on the schedule from running the table. Both the Hawks and Ravens play in LA and the Boys can be beaten that much has been proven.

I'm concerned more about having to play GB at GB in a playoff game. This team showed in Chicago last year that freezing temps can derail them. I'm hoping GB loses a few games. I was hoping Mahomes would slow them down but with him out I don't see KC being good enough to beat the Packers. I also see the Packers beating the Niners who really don't have much of a QB. That will be a huge game because I see the Hawks beating the 49ers twice and the Rams beating them in Santa Clara. That would put the Niners in 4th place in the division.

So again this forum is adamant Blythe needs to be replaced. Keeping in mind the LG is a rookie now and the center is a tough but green 1st year starter. How does this forum suggest replacing Blythe this season? Will they get some reps for Corbett or Evans this week? Any trade would have to happen early Tues.

I agree. But at the same time, we missed a very makeable FG against the sea pigeons and Grabmypole threw a pick 6 to Littleton but he dropped it with the score tied 7-7. We could be 6-1 right now.

But then again, all the close games went our way last season so maybe things have a way of evening it's way up.
