Campbell calls out Goff about playing better well let's see how Stafford would do with Whit and Allen out and Kupp and Woods out. That is what Detroit offense looks like their best 2 OLmen and top 2 wrs are on IR and that is just the Offense. Giants only initially had 2 star offense players until their LT got hurt.

I am not defending Goff but Campbell's shitty defense lost 2 games that should have one. Baltimore had a 4-19 and they got a first down and Minny marched down the field on their defense with like 40 seconds roughly to win. Goff put them in a winning position twice only to have their attrocious defense surrender the game. I have seen 2 of their games and initially it was completely a terrible defense. Now everyone is hurt on Offense so that complicates things more.

Goff is 6 games in he is learning a new system with a team that has no really great wrs weapons for the most part except for a great TE. They have really good backs, but now they don't have a strong line and Goff's best friend a Center is on IR especially being a pocket passer.

If you are trying to build cohesion this is not the way to do it Campbell. How about take a look in the mirror like McVay does each week and focus on making the entire team better instead of dumping on the QB.

While your at it maybe focus on the horrible Defense. They only have 2 starters on IR.

Coach Kneecap seems to be in over his head.

He's not handling the media well. Calling out Goff was lame but it seemed like he's been wanting to say it for a few weeks and just let it out. I think he was a bad hire for an NFL coach.

Wow! Confused about a coach expecting more from millionaire players who only have one job which is to win.

I can't think of a nicer way to say that someone needs to do better in a performance based career??? McVay did the same thing last year which means the common denominator in this discussion is Goff.

Only way to shut folks up is to go out and perform, even when bad things happen. I fear that Jared will never be able to do thisl and will soon be a back up QB for the rest of his career.

Goff hasn't won a single game under Fisher or Campbell. Of course I don't think all of that is on Goff. He's played well enough to win a few in Detroit.

Imagine writing this paragraph:
Campbell calls out Goff about playing better well let's see how Stafford would do with Whit and Allen out and Kupp and Woods out. That is what Detroit offense looks like their best 2 OLmen and top 2 wrs are on IR and that is just the Offense. Giants only initially had 2 star offense players until their LT got hurt

Then immediately to start the next sentence:
I am not defending Goff

Campbell thought long and hard about saying what he said. Not sure what to make of it. But Campbell's comments were not "spur of the moment" IMHO.

On the one hand, Goff has been dealt a horrible hand-- an abysmal defense AND a poor offense that ALSO has lost two starters at WR and OL. On the other hand, this is the second time an HC has felt compelled to call him out publicly.

Stafford has to be looking at Detroit and thinking "thank God I'm not there anymore"

The way Goff played on Sunday would strain the patience of any head coach. Their "horrible" defense at least kept them in it for a half and gave them a chance. Until late in the 3rd quarter Goff was averaging less than 3 yards per pass attempt. No one can be competitive with their QB playing like that.

Campbell never laid the blame solely at Goff's feet. He said his QB was making it harder on his teammates by not progressing through his reads, missing makeable throws and drifting back in the pocket. Might've elaborated too much, but so what? He isn't wrong.

Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia poisoned that franchise. They ran off the few good players left from the Caldwell era and made it so good players wouldn't want to come there. There was very little Dan Campbell can do to fix things in year one. They had little talent to begin with and injuries are stretching their roster even more.

No one expected Goff to lead the Lions to the playoffs in this scenario but he could at least help out his team by making plays when they are there to be made. Jared is supposed to be a bridge QB in Detroit. But he is a regressing player who has not been able to correct the issues that make him a liability. It is no longer reasonable to think he would play better in other circumstances. He was in one of the most enviable situations in the league and he played himself out of it.

If someone who made a fraction of what I made could do my job as good or better, I would appreciate a come to Jesus meeting instead of getting benched or fired. A couple of the replays I saw from this weekend looked terrible and that 4th throwaway with guys open in the flats is inexcusable for a player drafted that high and paid that much.

plain and simple.

If people would actually listen to the interview they would agree with the Coaches point.

He literally said he agrees Goff cannot be evaluated under these conditions (Oline and WRs decimated).

He THEN went on to say but Goff needs to put the team on his shoulders. Meaning Goff has had a few chances to win games in some close ones and didn't deliver. It's a fair critique. Goff can play better. He's not Lamar Jackson where he can run around and win you a game on his own. He does need a solid line and some support. He outplayed Prescott and Bress on the way to a super bowl with Kupp and with Gurley a shell of himself for God's sake.

You know who else could play better? Mahomes, Allen, Stafford, Roethlisberger, Cousins and every other QB.

There is no one besides Goff haters that thinks Goff is the issue in Detroit. It's a systemic franchise issue. The defense, Oline and WR's are not good.
