The Browns are going to get some publicity for their first round in this draft, because they added Myles Garrett No. 1, then traded way down and picked up a big name in Peppers. Peppers is a modern NFL player if there ever was one, becoming the first player in the modern combine to work out as both a linebacker and a defensive back. He's a versatile, dangerous playmaker (albeit who only had one interception with Michigan) that can move all over the field as a chess piece.

But if I were a betting man,I would have to guess that this is case of analysts

I've always thought Peppers was overrated and would actually struggle in the NFL because he not an elite S and too small for LB, but he went to easily the best team possible for his skillset. I think hes pretty similar to Barron and will play that exact role for Williams, except hes way more athletic which adds another layer of possibilities for Williams

He is the most versatile player in this draft and possibly in the last few drafts. He can play safety, linebacker, nickel, corner, kick returner, punt returner, running back, and even wildcat QB. If he doesn't find a place to produce on a short-handed Browns roster then I will be in disbelief.

I expect Peppers to play SS in the Roman Harper role. Williams will park him in the box, blitz him often, use him in man-to-man (like he did T.J.), and let him search and destroy.

I expect him to be used like Polamlu was by Pittsburgh. He'll basically be a rover whose job it is to simply go find the ball.

Whatever role he plays, Peppers is a great fit with Williams. During the season the experts were all putting Peppers way up on their list. After football hasn't been played the same experts hate on the Browns for picking Peppers. Peppers couldn't go to every defense, but his value in Williams scheme is massive. Scheme fit is everything when drafting.

I highly disagree with that logic. Personally I think the best strategy when rebuilding is trade back and acquire as much talent as possible and fill everything you can and get your qb last so you have him for 5 years on a cheaper deal. It's what Seattle did and it's been great for them.

I could easily see him begin at safety and find himself moved to the Barron role by next year. I was impressed with his playmaking when tracking down running plays and short zone work in pass defense. I didn't think he was that great when asked to do more in pass defense. I think NFL OCs will isolate him and get him on slot receivers. They did that to Barron in TB all the time.

As far as I'm concerned, Peppers was the best safety on the board, they get an extra 1st Round in 2018, and fill a position of need. I felt like the Browns had a killer first round.
