That throw to higbee that was nearly intercepted with woods open, i read somewhere that the 29 yard completion to higbee had Sammy wide open for a probable td.

Something to work on for Goff.

I didn't like that decision/throw to Higbee at all.

I'd like to see some of the All-22 if someone had access and the time...for the INT and some of the others you mentioned.

And no...not to bash Goff at all...but I like to study that stuff myself. I want to see what McVay and the offense is trying to do. I'm trying to learn and see what was seen or not seen and what the play design was, etc. And then I like to measure that to what the coaches/players do in the coming weeks. (Fisher and his coaches were awful when I studied them in this regard.)

So, yea...someone hook it up with the film!!

I've seen some evidence that Goff favors Higbee sometimes. Like he is trying to prop up his buddy. I hope he starts dishing more to Sammy and Woods. Hit the open guy.

:rant:Too many targets! (n)

:rant:Sammy needs to kick over the Gatorade bucket! :sneaky:

Some great points by that dude.

But he and many posters miss something that film shows..

On the (almost interception) throw to Higbee, it is blatant pass interference on the cowboys defender on Higbee. He literally grabs Higbee who is way down the field and pushes Higbee out of the path of the football. It’s unbeleivable this was not called. You can see Mcvay on the sideline screaming about it. With Higbee’s height that ball is caught with no chance for an interception. Unless the safety runs over Higbee.

Higbee is pushed so far out of the play towards the sideline that it appears overthrown or a bad pass. But it wasn’t.

It's hard to say. People tend to state these things without recognizing that defenses react to what the offense is doing. Watkins may have ended up open for a TD if Goff had looked his way, but we can't say for sure. Dallas had a single-high safety and their CB was watching Goff. The CB passed Watkins off to the safety who was running towards Higbee because Goff was winding up to throw his way. Now, if Goff had looked to Watkins, the CB might have trailed Watkins with the safety over the top. Or maybe he passes him off again and Goff drops in a ball over the top for a TD. It's hard to anticipate how a defense will react to completely different circumstances.

I think a Higbee is more of a liability than an asset. He could not block or hold on to the ball when thrown to. And with Goff favoring his roommate buddy, that’s a recipe for major disasters. I would target Everett more so than Higbee.

I don't know. The safety runs to his left away from Watkins at the snap. He wouldn't have had time to recover.

The safety was dropping to his spot as a single-high. If Goff had looked for Watkins, he would have moved back over the top of Watkins. Maybe he isn't able to recover. But if Goff is looking at Watkins, maybe Scandrick takes outside leverage and sticks with him. That would change the play entirely. All we know is that the defense reacted to what Goff did. We don't know how they would have reacted if things were different. We also know the outcome of the play was a 29-yard completion, so I'm not bothered by it.

The CB looks flat footed. Ill take watkins speed to out run him on that one. You're right though it was still a big play.

It looked like that was the play they were gonna run and ran it. It's not like he was surveying the field. It was a 5 step drop and throw.

Something to learn from for Goff. Have a peek to your best wr.

Maybe your dislike of higbee is clouding your judgement
