The game has finally slowed down, just in time for Gregg Williams to kick it in the ass again. This is a new scheme for him too. But that old one appeared to be overly basic, so hopefully his grasp of the fundamentals and speed of the game itself is sufficient enough for him to make a significant leap this year in THIS defense. And I think he can.

I think he's going to be a monster in this scheme.

+1.

I imagine that on many other teams, Ogletree would be THE story, coming off a huge rookie year, and looking like potentially a favorite chess piece for grandmaster Gregg Williams. On the Rams, he's one of 10 guys who could have a huge year, so he doesn't get the attention he should.

But seriously, compare Ogletree stats to DPOY Kuechly and tell me who you'd rather have.

Comparable on sacks (although I think Ogletree has more potential here), stuffs, passes defensed (Ogletree a bit better). Kuechly has the advantage of "assisted tackles". But where Kuechly has 6 INTs , 3 FRs, no FFs over 2 years, Ogletree has 6 FFs and 1 INT (for a 98 yd TD) in 1 year. The 9 times Kuechly has had the ball in his hands in 2 years, he's returned it a total of 64 yards. Personally, I give more value to FFs (a dynamic play) than FRs (being in the right place at the right time).

Ogletree is already MONSTER. And he'll be even more devastating under Williams. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4 INTs (2 on tipped passes), 7 sacks, 6 FFs (3 on sacks) and 10 more TFLs.

First rookie OLB ever to have forced 6 fumbles if I'm correct?

Tied for 3rd in the league behind Quinn and Mathis. 6 would be top 4 in the league any of the last 10 years (and yes, I checked). It's a big number of high impact plays any way you look at it. And yeah, he was a rookie. And yeah, he should be better under the attacking Williams, esp with so much attention on the front 4 esp Quinn and Donald (and Long and Brockers (and Langford and Evans) and Sims))).

That's all I need to hear. You could smell wood burning at times when Ogletree was on field last year. He's going to be better when he can just react and not have to think as much.
