79 Rams get shafted big-time. They could stand with a lot of teams but these young
people didn't see them play and just look at the 9-7 record and QB stats

NFL Throwback YouTube channel ranks every Super Bowl winner, and loser in two seperate videos.

For winners I'm surprised the '76 Raiders made it as high as 5th. Over teams like the '91 Redskins, and '89 49ers.
They actually had the '94 49ers above '89, which I can't get behind, but it's just an opinion.

Well they were a so so team for the most part that year but I would move them up just on how they played in the SB and move the teams that got destroyed below them.

The 83 Redskins are #3, after getting raped and murdered by the Raiders 38-9? I can still see the LB (Squirek) pick 6 off Theismann right before the half. That was a dumb throw and a stupid decision by Gibbs to play from inside the 20 (the 12 with 12 seconds left in the half).:ROFLMAO:

And we care about the opinions of the person(s) responsible for these lists because…why?

Yeah but for what the Redskins did to our Rams in the Divisional round, rank ‘em as high as possible imo

not even sure how you rank this kind of thing

Kind of pointless tbh.
What isn't? We all participate in mock drafts, rankings of QBs, how good or bad Purdy is, who Rams should look at as UDFA or who they should trade for ... and many other things

And we care about the opinions of the person(s) responsible for these lists because…why?
Not so much care, but as I said above, we talk about a lot of stuff, this has value to some, none to others. We seem to get upset if a Rams gets snubbed from the Pro Bowl or if Stafford isn't ranked as the top 5 NFC QB and a myriad of other things.

Do we care about those? Probably not but they are discussed here anyway.

This is just another of the 1,000 points of darkness that are NFL chat boards.

I’m interested in the thoughts, opinions and analyses of people who post here because I can respond and engage in a dialogue with them.

I’m relatively uninterested in the thoughts, opinions and analyses of random bloggers and vloggers, who present their content in a one-sided medium that does not allow for a dialogue.

Agreed. Especially in the offseason. Things like this topic give us something to talk about. It also put me down memory lane.

That 1978-79 team had two corners (Rod Perry and Pat Thomas) who each had 8 interceptions. I don't recall that happening in my lifetime. They were my favorite players that year. Both Perry and Thomas were listed as being 5'-9" 187 pounds. Ironically, after such a great season the game winning TD in that Superbowl for the Steelers, was just an inch or two out of reach for Perry.

Perry had 8 interceptions twice in his career. If you look through the interception leaders by year, you will see that in many of them 9-10 was a common number. Lester Hayes had 13 one year. Dick Lane had 14. In the last twelve years 6-8 interceptions were enough to lead the league. With teams passing more than ever, I would have thought the interception numbers would be higher than they were in the more run centric years. More passes thrown equals more opportunities. So, what's different? Better quarterback play across the board? Offensive schemes making it harder on DBs? Through most of the years when running was the primary offensive strategy corners weren't getting as much help with nickel and dime packages like they do now. They also played more man coverages.

Rams that lead the league in interceptions since 1940:

1952 Dick Lane 14
1955 Will Sherman 11
1976 Monte Jackson 10
1996 Keith Lyle 9
1997 Ryan McNeil 9

There's a video of Darrell Green highlights floating around somewhere online that I ran into recently. He had to be the fastest football player ever, period. Insane speed.

I will never forget the sense of incredulity at watching him chase down Dickerson in that game.

To clarify, the High Five I gave here was not the fact that ED was tackled, but for your memory of the game and the respect for Darrell Green, he was amazing

Excellent question. Rule changes/enforcement? 16 picks (between 2 starting CBs) is equal to team totals most years. The last 10 years here's how many teams had more than 16 picks. 10, 6, 9, 4, 4, 6, 8, 8, 8 and 11. Back in 79, 22 teams had more than 16 picks, 7 had 25 or more. The Oilers had 34 and the Bears 29 for conference leaders. In the last 10 years, 3 teams have had 25 picks. Dallas 26 in 2021, N. England 25 in 2019 and Chicago 27 in 2018. The last 5 years just 8 teams had had 20 or more. So what gives?

That's why we post things here -- in part to discuss what others post on their sites. Some of the things --- these fan sites --- Ramblin Fan and so on offer little but fodder and are conversation starters. Like anything some like cotton candy others like a good French meal. You can get both here and anything in between.

To each, their own. I find nothing of value from cutting and pasting TST, Ramblin Fan or other blogs.
