My morning "coffee" is almost a religion for me. Here it is...
I slam one of these coconut waters... and then I fill up a big Yeti Rambler with this exact kind of grapefruit juice and some ice (I fill up the the yeti almost halfway with ice first). I have the grapefruit completely gone before lunchtime.... so I guess I drink it like you coffee drinkers... kinda slowly. The yeti holds like 32 ounces or something like that... it's a good amount of juice. I have to buy 4 of these bottles of juice every week.
I only drink coffee occasionally. When I do.... it has to have Bailey's in it.
I'm down to half a cup a day. Week it's drip with nice grocery store beans, usually chocolate raspberry or macadamia nut. Weekend it's French Press. Get that water up to 160-70F, stir in ground coffee, cover, wait five minutes, and enjoy the deliciousness.
Fresh ground beans. Taken black as I have always had my coffee. My dad was a coffee purist. He said after the crap army coffee he was forced to drink for 5 years he would never drink crap coffee again. He showed me and my brother how to make coffee when I was 8 years old. Been making it that way ever since, with one exception. I grind the beans much finer than my dad but he had the old percolator back in the day. Beans are better now with the roasting much better controlled. He would drive all the way into downtown LA to buy freshly roasted beans once a week from a commercial distributor. My dad was a trucker his whole life since he was 13 years old and had to drop out of school to support the family. The roaster was someone he delivered to a couple of times a month.
My girlfriend loves coffee but always with cream and sugar. I convinced her to drink some of mine and she has been drinking it black ever since. If made properly with quality roasted beans, coffee isn't bitter or sour (that's a sign of stale beans or grounds). It has a very pleasant sweet after taste if done right.
Normal commercial brand coffee is ground with the hulls. Ever open a can of Hills Brothers and see the light-colored grounds? That's the hull and it will make the coffee bitter if in the wrong proportions.
Don't make the mistake that darker means more caffeine because it doesn't. Case in point Starbucks blonde roast has more caffeine than their darker blends.
I think I would be brain dead without my coffee. My girlfriend and I go through a pot a day normally. Being cooped up we drink almost two pots a day. LOL In fact, I'm drinking a cup right now.
Since all my stuff is still packed, my girlfriend surprised me by buying a small single-serving brewer. Instead of the automated cup stuff, I can use my normal coffee. 2-3 teaspoons in the reuseable filter and 15 oz of water and it's good to brew. Damn, I might not unpack my regular maker. I can feel my brain expanding as it was atrophying from lack of caffeine. LOL
Drip. Every day unless the world has ended or I've actually gotten a good night's sleep the night before. Sometimes a cup or two with the press but that is few and far between.
