It used to be Chris Long..If we heard about the condition of the Rams D in print, web, or TV it was always Long, it seemed. Long wasn't very credible (JMHO) after the Pie in the Face preseason of overconfidence a couple of years ago. It was always sunshine and confidence that the Rams would start fast, and they never did. Quinn is hitting a more realistic chord on the times I have heard him speak...Not exactly negative, but I don't feel the Chris Long Sunshine from him....It sounds like a guy tired of the BS that knows this group should be elite, and isn't..at least not yet, and he's not satisfied.

I like it

On another note, Marshall Faulk sounded like the voice of reason on the broadcast last night when he pointed out how some of the toughest defenses the GSOT faced were simple schemes and not all the complex stuff (which leads to blown coverages). I wish Greg Williams gets a tape of that broadcast.

Not disagreeing with you necessarily, but did Faulk win any more Super Bowls as a player, than Gregg Williams did as a DC in New Orleans?

So you are building a team and you can only take one, are you taking Quinn or Donald?

Not sure how that matters at all.

That said, I'd argue that Faulk's role played a larger part in his team obtaining a Super Bowl ring than Williams (25th ranked defense) played a role in his team getting one with the #1 ranked offense in the NFL.

It plays in that Gregg Williams directed a defense, and Marshall was a Running Back. Faulk is extremely smart but is a talking head now. I'll trust the guy who gets paid to be a Defensive Coordinator, who has won a Super Bowl, over an analyst.

Aaron Donald is a force of nature, but I do think Brockers helps him in ways that don't show up on a stat sheet...Love Quinn, but a pentrating DT that stops the run seems to be harder to find than a premiere pass rusher...But since I'm greedy, I'll TAKE BOTH!

To actually run the defense? I'd agree with you.

As to what works best. I'd disagree. And apparently so do the Seahawks who run one of these simple schemes and have had the top defense in the NFL the past few years.

K.I.S.S. Give these guys less to think about and let them play fast if they are so talented.

The Vikings PurplePeopleEaters' spokesman Jim Marshall (?) reportedly said, "the best plan is for us to meet together in the [opposing] backfield."

The Ram's front four/five motto should be, "Let's meet in the backfield, steal the rock, and escort each other to pay dirt!"

btw...It was #1 ranked because the other team was so far behind due to GSOT. Out guys knew they were pass rushing almost from the 1st quarter on, in a lot of games in 1999. Correct?

Huh? The #1 ranked offense I was referring to was the 2009 New Orleans Saints. Williams didn't get his Super Bowl ring with the GSOT.

I think complicated works for some groups. The Patriots and Packers run some really complicated schemes and make it work.

But I do wonder if we need to blitz as much as we do. Maybe we would be better served just rushing the front four and keeping the extra guy in coverage a little more often. I'm just a dude on a keyboard so me second guessing an NFL DC is good for a chuckle, but all the same, I do wonder.

I wish they would blitz a little less. With our D line it shouldn't be necessary.

High risk, high reward. That's the name of the game with Williams. We'll either get a Broncos game from last year, or a Minnesota game.

No offense to Robert Quinn, but I'm taking Donald. I think he's going to be the most disruptive player in the league this year... and years to come.
