2016 NFL Draft: LA Rams To Visit With Ohio St. WR Michael Thomas

Ohio State's mercurial wideout is in LA to meet with the Rams.

With plenty of visits already reported. the Rams have recently met with fellow Buckeye safety Vonn Bell (story here) and Middle Tennessee St. safety Kevin Byard (story here).

Thomas, though, eclipses the current draft stock of either safety prospect. Thomas was taken with the first pick of the second round in the 2016 SB Nation NFL Bloggers Mock, so he could well find himself in the mix between the Rams picks at #15 overall in the first round and in the middle of the second round with their two picks at #s 43 and 45.

The questions then are evident.

Would Thomas be an appropriate selection for the Rams at 15? If not, would he make more sense as a candidate for the Rams to trade down from 15 for or to trade up from one of those second round picks to select? Would the latter of the two options be incumbent on a specific prospect at 15?

If we don't draft a WR in round 1 and If this guy dropped to 43 or 45 I'm all for it ! He has size and speed but I still prefer Treadwel because of his blocking and leaping ability.

Some sites are reporting that that teams think Thomas is the best receiver in the draft.

Interesting tidbit on Thomas. He and Jeff Fisher went to the same High School in LA where Thomas was a dominant WR. Would that make him count as a local visit instead of a top 30?

I really like Thomas's game he is the number 2 WR on my board behind Doctson. IMO his floor is Michael Crabtree and his ceiling is a less athletic Demaryius Thomas. Thomas can win downfield and is great after the catch for a big guy. Would be the perfect compliment to Tavon at the X

Thomas in round 2 would be really nice. Guys like him and Boyd, and hopefully Shepard will be in the mix with that pick at 43.

If the Rams decide to roll the dice and hope Lynch falls at 15 the payoff is they can scoop some real nice receiving talent with those three picks from rounds 2-3. And if it pays off and they get Lynch at 15? The future of the Rams offense will be in place and lookin good.

Been pounding the table for this guy in the 2nd and think he is barely the the 2nd best WR in this draft right behind Treawell because of his size etc.
Thomas can run routes like a mofo i swear watching him play reminds me of Isaac Bruce like crazy.

One of the few Ohio State prospects I'd be happy with the Rams getting. He was my favorite receiver on the team last year too.

Love to get him in too; just not sure he will be there when we pick. More and more analyst have him as equal to Treadwell. Do not believe he makes it to the 40th pick.

This absolutely sucks. Just a few weeks ago he was widely thought of as 4-6 best WR and I really thought we could steal him in the 2nd. Now I hear everybody is going gaga over him in recent weeks :/

I hate Ohio State and am biased against their players. Despite that, I'd love to get this kid. He's that good

I'm the same exact way brother. I'd love this kid but i dont know if that is going to happen now with our trade today. I love Wentz to have Thomas to throw to after those crisp routes are run.

Was this a smoke screen? I wonder if we're still meeting with him and if so, why? I mean, I'd like to get the guy, but we don't realistically have a chance now.

Yeah, since there are limited visits, better to use them for players who will likely be available when the Rams pick. Of course, maybe they are planning on trading Keenum to Denver for a second rounder, which would make a lot more prospects available.
