Robert Woods rejoins Rams after tending to family matter

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Rams WR Robert Woodsreturned to practice Thursday and rejoined the team after dealing with a personal issue that made him inactive for last Sunday's game against the Bears.

Woods said he will continue to keep the personal issue private, but indicated it was a family matter.

"Football is my job," Woods said. "My family is over my job."

Woods thanked the Rams organization for its support as he tended to the family matter.

"Big time," Woods said, when asked how L.A. players and coaches supported him during his time away from the team. "Just being there, allowing me to just be supportive of my family. Everyone in our organization reached out, supported my decision, supported me through this and and still do."

The former USC standout said he plans to play against the Ravens, but reiterated his approach of taking things one day at a time.

"Came to practice today, first day back, it felt good to be back out there, being back with the guys and the team," Woods said. "Just taking it day by day, working towards being prepared for Monday night."

Brandin Cooks never considered retirement despite concussion history

Rams receiver Brandin Cooks will play Monday night after missing the past two games with a concussion. He never doubted he would return.

Doctors have diagnosed Cooks with five concussions in his six-year career, including two in a 25-day span, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.

Cooks said he never considered retirement.

Absolutely not,” Cooks said, via Thiry. “When it happened, that never went through my mind. Even now, it’s not going through my mind.”

The Rams exercised caution in Cooks’ return. He went to Pittsburgh twice to meet with Dr. Michael Collins, the director of the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program.

“One of the biggest things that I learned, concussions is a case-by-case thing,” said Cooks, who had no symptoms the day after he each concussion. “Mine was very unique, and just thankful once again to be able to go and get answers.”

Cooks said he is not concerned about getting another concussion.

He has 27 receptions for 402 yards and a touchdown in eight games this season.

I hope we can still get Reynold involved in the offense. To be honest, I prefer him over Cooks.

I have always liked Reynolds since his days at Texas A&M, he just provides a different skill set than Cooks. Reynolds is more like Woods and Thomas is more like Cooks, only problem is Thomas can't catch the ball.

Good to have him back and hopeful that his family’s issues are resolved positively.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed since he put the horns on as someone that would do everything and put it on the line for the Rams.

He's bigger, which makes him more of a red zone threat. We don't have to move on from him this season, but the Rams need to start considering bigger guys. Kupp is not really tiny himself. But he need's help.

I would like to see him and Goff have more rapport in the endzone. But overall I am a huge fan of Reynolds.

Before Woods missed last week I was thinking he’s had an “off year”... but 566 in 9 games is 1,000 in 16 games.

He is behind on TD’s but primed for 3 on Monday night....

Great to have both of them back. Glad everything is good for Woods. Good news on Cooks that he did not have effects the next day. Cooks going to make a difference. Reynolds is nice to have as the fourth WR. He doesn't get the same attention as Cooks. I would like to see Goff have the time to go to Cooks deep.

A little off topic, but, who doesn't love our wide receivers? Great players, and with Cooks, Kupp and Woods, (Not seeing enough of Reynolds in interviews, etc.) even better human beings.
