CBS Sports Doug Gottlieb discusses the Rams QB situation and whether Foles holdout will lead to him leaving the Rams.

I don't think it has anything to Foles' "holdout". The Rams have made it clear that they don't want him back - naming Keenum the starter going into the offseason, trying to trade Foles before the draft, wanting Mannion to get some time, and then drafting a future starter in Goff. Foles could be washing and waxing Fisher's car after every practice, and his future as a Rams' QB would be bleak.

Don't see this breaking before training camp starts unless somebody loses a Quarterback to a freak injury. Have a feeling it will end with the Rams cutting Foles before training camp and just cut their loss. All of us were hoping for at the very minimum a 5th round selection at first and now just a conditional selection, but it just does not seem like it is in the cards.

Rams are now set in their QB numbers & have their 3 top QB's now. Foles is has been a starting QB in the NFL for 3 seasons has more value than many may think to other NFL teams. Is an early season starting QB injury rare?

Foles has started over 35 NFL games. Foles has proven he can be an effective NFL QB in the right circumstances. What the Rams don't have in numbers is in 2017 1st & 2nd day draft selections. Snead would be very smart IMO to hold out on the release of Foles. Rams have already figured in Foles salary cap hit. NFL teams with serious salary issues like Denver may find Nick Foles very tempting & manageable if they are up against the cap wall & all they have is 2017 second day draft picks to buy a QB as legal tender to offer up if a injury does occur to their starting QB.

Foles does not have any hanging negatives in the area of character or health. He is very smart & his arm is very strong. Behind a good OL when Nick will have time to throw, can get the job done.If it were up to me....I would keep Foles on the roster as long as possible even up to the trading deadline to fish & make the catch for 2017 draft selections of any type.

Or, in Denver's case, when they realize they have Mark Sanchez as their starter.

Who can imagine that our fourth string QB would have value to anyone?
I guess that he could be a backup in Texas or Cleveland.

We should have never announced any plans in regards to who may start....And trade either/both Foles & Keenum.....damn shame this is the backup....we should only have Davis, Mannion, & Goff on this team.

Seems pretty simple. Foles is going to get paid whether he plays for us or not. If Foles were to show up and "compete," there is the possibility of his being hurt. If that were to happen, it would eliminate any possibility we could get something for him in a trade. Such a scenario could occur if there is a significant injury or two to other teams starters or primary backups. If there are no key injuries during camp and preseason games, (including the Rams' qbs), then teams that may have an interest in him will simply wait until he is cut. As 12intheBox stated, we aren't going to tie up a valuable roster spot with a guy we don't want.

It may have to do with everyone seeing Foles performance last season and knowing he will be cut, and even then there may not be much market for him unless an injury happens.

I like the idea of keeping Keenum around since he played effectively at times for us and knows the offense. Trading away both would require a lot of trust in Goff's readiness and the development of Mannion.

Trade Foles for 2018 7th and let him keep the jerseys. No he won't be here. They already signed a camp arm today haha. Real question for me is do they carry 3 QB's with Mannion?

Foles still on the block.

You can probably characterize the situation between the Rams and Nick Foles as the most amicable holdout you’d ever see. Because the team is the only one of the 32 not to hold a mandatory minicamp, Foles technically doesn’t have to show up to anything until late July. And with Foles away, Los Angeles can get backups Case Keenum and Sean Mannion more reps (Jared Goff was gonna get plenty, regardless).

So why are the Rams holding on to Foles? The belief internally was that his trade value would be at a low point between the draft and the start of training camp, and that was before a record 15 quarterbacks were selected at the end of April. Depth charts are stocked, and young guys need work. But once camp starts, and there’s an injury or two, or someone’s backup isn’t coming along as hoped?

Foles could well be an intriguing option—he has 35 career starts, is just 27 years old, and is set to make just $1.75 million in an environment where quality backups are going for four times that. Say, for example, the Chiefs have an injury or their young developmental guys struggle. Would it be worth throwing a late-round pick LA’s way for Foles? It might be.

It, of course, isn’t ideal for the Rams that they already gave Foles his $6 million roster bonus for 2016. But, as they see it, they money may well wind up buying them an extra pick for ’17.

Unless Foles really can't stand C. Kelley, SF would actually be a good fit.
He's played well in his offense.

Foles is also very cheap at this point.
