Maybe I'm missing something but I do not understand why Langford was cut.

We had too much depth at the position and they thought he was making to much.

He was being paid starting DT money and was demoted to a backup role on the team. He is also a starting caliber DT on some teams, so the cut was probably mutual (which would be why he got cut before the other decisions were made). He wants a starting position, and that spot isn't open on this team.

Too much in salary for a rotational DT. I'd take him back in a heartbeat at a salary commensurate with his role. But with the emergence of Donald, Langford's role was reduced to a point where it no longer matched his salary.

Because he was an expensive backup. If he was still the starter it would have been a different story.

It's just business...Nothing personal.
Langford cost too much. He was fat on the lamb...err the Ram.

Most Sack City fans like Langford, but as you know we have a top tier defensive line, with or without Langford... But alas , we have weak offensive line.

You and I both wish we had a plethora of top tier all-pro WR's, TE's, LB's, and defensive backs, but we don't.

Everybody on ROD wishes we had an inexpensive, less injury prone, top 10 quarterback, but we don't!... Instead we got a QB, who has the Ram's front office over the salary barrel...So we must cut solid football players like Langford. I'm sad, your sad, we're all sad that we cut Langford... That's business.

Langford was making too much, but imo its a much bigger crime that Long and Wells are on the roster

Fisher, being the loyal guy he is probably wanted to give Kendall the best shot he had at finding another team, and cut him early.

I don't know why Wells and Long were not cut too, but I guess they retire once they are, so no rush till it gets down to the wire.

Sometimes I wonder how old people think Long is, dude's only 29...

Simply paid too much to be a backup. You may see them try to bring him back at lower cost, but he is almost guaranteed to get more money from someone else than what the Rams will offer as non-starting pay

Seems such a waste. He was a great unheralded (excepting here if course) team player. So much depth on dline and such a dearth on O. Hopefully we can convert those assets to a high quality guard or center.

I really think this was a mutual decision. Langford was making too much money for his role here and the best way for him to get on as a starter somewhere was an early cut. He was probably wanting more playing time and with Brockers and Donald ahead of him, that just wasn't going to happen. Hate to see him go but I think most people assumed it was going to happen.

Cuz this.

What a freaking beast! I had barely even heard of this guy when @jrry32 started talking about him. Of course I dismissed it right away as he was small and we already had some pretty decent DTs. I prove my worth as nothing but a fan on a regular basis.

Yup, I was way wrong. Its not that I didn't like him, I just didn't think he was worth the pick, I wanted to go Safety instead I believe.

Hearing on local radio that Darnell Dockett could land in either SF, Seattle or with the Rams. Probably nothing to it but SF makes sense.
Chance to play the Cards twice a year, they run a 3-4 defense.
