Ever wonder why when we lose there's like 7 million pages in the Vent thread, and only about 3 pages in the Celebration thread when we win?

Ever wonder why when we lose there's like 7 million threads about why we lost and why we're so bad, and only about 3 spinoff threads when we win?

I'm looking at most of the 7 million threads and read all of the 7 million pages in the Vent thread, and wonder why? I already know that
  • Evans ain't playing well
  • Our OL has been hit by lightning multiple times
  • Our Offense is historically bad right now
  • Our Defense has serious scheme issues
  • There is no winning the argument over whether the D or O is to blame, since it doesn't matter. We ain't going to the playoffs unless both play better
But yet I read on and create threads (like this one!), so why?

It hurts more to lose than it feels good to win, that's why. Poker player's credo, you rarely remember the wins, but you will ALWAYS remember EVERY bad beat. The ones where you had the guy beat and he draws his 1-52 chance card on the river.

So I'm thankful this board exists, because I think without it I'd be in jail right now, or at least in my wife's doghouse.

Vent indeed!

Last year couldn’t have been any sweeter.

Not winning back to back rings is fine but a face plant this season is screeching the celebrating to a halt.

it would’ve been nice to keep the spirits up if by winning the division. And a hope for a other ring the next season even if getting bounced by a hot team.

Right now it’s all coming apart. Not fun. Not the type of year you want to enjoy after a Super Bowl win.

So it's the Rams or therapy ? I believe you made the right choice.

It is difficult to remain up-beat after losses and generally people want to do something with that frustration.

The rawness of fan opinion is fun to read and often insightful. All of us are attracted to that, apparently, being here talking Rams 365 days a year.

However the opposite occurs when this frustration spills over to excessive negativity and members bicker with each other.

So yeah… good time to remind people why we exist. RamsOnDemand is a place to find quality fan opinion on the Rams. A board philosophy to be forward focus and members are expected to be good to each other. This is why we attract 1000’s of daily/regular readers. The content is good and there is not too much crap to read around.

And a few more positive threads would be great. Winning will help with that too.

ROD is my Rams sanctuary. I won't even F with sports media when the Rams are playing like this... Because why would I purposefully raise my blood pressure??

Last week, I watched until the third quarter via RedZone... That was all I could stomach. I didn't watch much at all of the whiner game the week before and not even sure I will watch this week.

I will continue to get my Rams news and commentary from this board and The Athletic. That's it.

I only read vents to a certain point. They are too redundant after a few weeks.

We can create Cooper Kupp and Aaron Donald threads.

Those are the only players playing to their abilities right now.

Ramsey Gay and Wagner are possibilities too.

Negative emotion gets more interaction from people.

I'd think data analytics the last 7 years prove that with FB and other social media platforms customizing their algorithms to a negative reaction by the next populated video to a particular user. They are more than likely to get watching, posting, and more.

Bad offensive play, idiotic defensive strategy, injuries, and bad drafting. Negative emotions get more interactions.

Back when I was a small town city councilman I noticed the same thing about issues with the city. Any big issue would cause many people to gather. When things ran smoothly, very few people showed up. Very much the same thing with football.

Yeah if it affects you, it is more than likely you will show up for something versus something that doesn't affect you.

It's 2002 all-over.

Only difference is the ring.

We should have had a ring that year except for some unexplainable coverages by the Patriots that seemed to know where our receivers were going before the play even started on brand new plays.

It's the same reason people will write a negative view over a good one. We are a species that thrives on conflict.

Misery loves company.

I do the same thing on a Lakers board I've been on for over 20 years.
Even when they were winning back to back chips, I was still critical of the team after certain losses and if they played sub-par.

You don't play to lose... you play to WIN. SO WINNING and effort and heart and fire is expected of professionals.
If I go to my work and half-ass it.... if I go in and underperform... I EXPECT to be called out.

It's my job to perform at a high level... that's why I get paid.

And I'm only making a fraction of what these guys make. So, yes, I will be critical if I see someone loafing.. I will be critical if mistakes are made and not corrected. If the coach says they are going to make changes and be better, well I expect them to make good on those promises. Its not losing itself... its HOW we lose.

I wasn't as upset with out recent loss to the Pats a few years back in the SB. We had a young team and coach going up against some of the GOATs as hated as they are. I was proud we even got there. But once you make that leap.... you have set a standard and should be judged based on that barometer moving forward.

One reason this board exist is that when I have lost an argument with my wife I know I can still come here and be among my brothers where we argue and there are no losers or winners.

Yeah, I really just posted this to point out the phenomenon, and my appreciation for ROD in allowing my frustration to be voiced.

I'll leave it to smarter folks to decide whether a line has been crossed, but my opinion is that when we start calling each other names, it has gone too far. I treat those on this board as if they're fellow Rams fan sitting with me at a sports bar (remember those?), so we can high-five (figuratively) after great plays. If we lose, I don't plan on throwing my chair at them.

We're all fans. We're all frustrated when we lose. Especially a "bad beat" like this game. We're in this together :peace2:

I'll be riding that Super Bowl win for at least a few more seasons and of course we'll always have the playoff memory of beating the shitters on the path to winning it all. It was about as epic as it gets.

But I want more rings not only for my own gratification but for McVay and Stafford and AD, as well as all the players on this team that delivered for us. So it's irritating as shit to see the team collapse. But never in a million years would I allow that to spoil the good feelings that Super Bowl gave me. No way.

So yeah this is great for getting all that shit off your chest. It's like therapy. And there's always the chance this team can solve their OL to some extent, at least to get them playing respectably. If that happens we can still have some fun watching the team push for the playoffs even if they don't make it.

Being a fan of one team for many years teaches lessons and the best one is to appreciate what you have. I enjoy the memories of even some painful years' teams, even though at the time I wanted to burn down the team HQ with Georgia in it. Figuratively speaking of course. :laugh1:
