#2 Brandon Gibson: He was one of the most underrated pass catchers on the free-agent market, but scouts have been closely watching the fifth-year pro develop into a big-play threat. Last season, Gibson produced 43 first downs on 51 receptions and impressed evaluators with his ability to get open against tight coverage.

Gibson is a masterful runner with an outstanding combination of balance, body control and short-area quickness. He excels at setting up defenders at the top of his routes and uses those same skills to whip defenders at the line of scrimmage against press coverage. In the video clip, he showcases his impressive release skills by stutter-stepping at the line to slip past the defender on a fade route. Gibson's craftiness at the line is the key to winning the route, and a major reason why the Dolphins wanted to add him as a third-down specialist.

I don't understand all of the love for Gibson, more than anything else. He's a decent 3rd wideout but no more. A "big-play threat", he most certainly is not. What has he shown over the past few years that suggests otherwise?

I'm gonna have to see how that line fairs before I come to any conclusion. Tannehills a damn good player, but lol Keller and Gibson aren't striking any fear in opposing D-Coordinators in the East.

Despite all the hype on Wallace moving up to get Jordan in the draft was probably the best move they made all offseason. He's a freak of nature. They should have some pass rush with him and Wake, and their defense as a whole is underrated imo.

Meh, I like the guy and think he is a good player but certainly not a game changer that's going to turn your team into a super bowl contender. A nice role player if used correctly.

LOL. Gotta love the media. You hear all season long and most of the off season," Sam bradford needs weapons!" or " The Rams need receivers"...some form of us needing to upgrade the position..

then you read stuff like this...just makes me laugh

Personally, I think there's another team in that state that had a much better offseason.

Anybody else think Tampa's kinda scary now? I mean, they're missing some pass rush, but aside from that...

That's what I was waiting to hear. Where was all this Gibson love when he was a Ram? I like Bucky Brooks, and I think he's a really smart analyst, but he was awfully silent about the Rams' receivers when they were still with the Rams.

Here's another comment of his from a month and a half ago.

St. Louis Rams: Second-year coach Jeff Fisher and GM Les Snead are committed to adding talented playmakers on both sides of the ball. That philosophy led the Rams to trade up into the top 10 to land Tavon Austin. The diminutive superstar will give Sam Bradford a dynamic slot receiver to target between the hashes. Additionally, the Rams picked up Austin's college teammate, Stedman Bailey, to serve as a possession receiver. Factor in Barrett Jones solidifying the middle of the offensive line, and the Rams have made major strides in upgrading the talent around Bradford.

Nothing about losing the great and dynamic Brandon Gibson there.

My thoughts on Gibson

-Smart player who has shown that he can learn new playbook after new playbook without effecting him almost always being in the right place. There was a handful of option routes that they were off on. For the most part he's reliable, and consistent.

-Works at his craft. Above average route runner, and significantly reduced the number of big drops. Attacks the ball in the air.

-Won't cause headaches off the field.

-Lacks the pure athleticism to ever be a #1 wideout in the league. He's a 5th year player who spent most of his time on a team that he had multiple chances to be the main target. Most of the time the receiver core was so depleted, he was. That being said, the numbers don't lie in this case. He is what he is. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12567/brandon-gibson
