Stranger's comment that this topic deserves it's own thread rings true for me, what is the most important play in team history?
My vote is for the Proehl catch in the NFC championship against the Bucs in '99. I think what can distinguish a champion is often doing the one thing the other team never suspects - like Jordan kicking it out to Steve Kerr for a game winning three in the finals. That's what made this play so special - their backs were against the wall for one of the only times all year and they found one of the few guys who hadn't caught a TD all year, a guy who was a role player but lacked virtually all of the athletic elements of his teammates to finally climb that mountain.
The sheer unexpectedness, contrasted with how epic is was, is what seperates it in my mind (not to mention the Rams were facing a deficit, albeit 1 point, at that juncture).
