What is the position group you are most worried about post draft and pre TC?

I have a huge debate here in regards to this. The LB’s, more in particular the ILB’s worry the hell out of me but they got some damn good linemen in front to help with their faults.

I’d have to say the OL as a whole worries me and I can’t put my finger who will be the starting rotation for 100% certain. My gut tells me:

LT:Whit
LG: Evans
C: Corbett
RG: Edwards
RT: Havenstein

If they even have a average rated season in the teens we are playoff bound. Hoping that injury bug is done.

Inside linebacker doesn't concern me as much: given that Littleton came out of nowhere, I trust their thoughts on ILB, and I like the competition they have.

OLB is interesting, especially if Polite makes the roster and contributes; he, a healthy Lewis, Floyd, Ebukam, and Okoronkwo ought to be flat-out hazardous to the health of opposing quarterback.

Offensive line is a concern, but if Evans, Edwards, and Corbett (at center) can improve, along with Havenstein potentially rebounding, we could have a solid line.

No, my concern, my main concern, is something most people take for granted until they don't have one: it's the kicker position. None of them are sure things, and while I do see potential in all of them, I am very concerned. It's like with quarterbacks: if you have two/three kickers, you don't have a kicker.

Everything is going to come down to the OL. If that unit performs well we're back in the mix, if not it's going to be a long season.

ILB concerns me too but there's going to be a lot of subbing so we can get by with good play up front. Not ideal but you can't fix everything.

our top 3 options at center had pff ratings of 51, 51, and 58.1. Not good. Hoping for significant and much needed improvement. And i didnt need the ratings to know what I saw last season even if it was through my hands partially blocking/protecting my view and me either rolling or wincing my eyes.

I would feel a whole lot better with a proven #2 QB. I think the contingencies this year need to be solid with CoVID messing with things.

They had confidence in the oline strategy last year too, and it finished 31st in the NFL. So last year's oline strategy was a complete failure, but you have more confidence this year with the same group + more injury questions?

Doubling down on the same exact personnel when the entire world expected the front office to upgrade the OL talent, is the biggest gamble this franchise could ever make. McVay and Snead either look like geniuses if the line plays well and develops, or if they play bad again they look like total incompetent idiots and someone will definitely get fired (Snead or Kromer likely) and it will be tough for Goff's career to recover.

When week 1 of the seasons comes around, we are one injury away from Demby, Noteboom, or Allen needing to start. Oh but guess what, Noteboom and Allen wont be ready for week 1. THEY ARE INJURED. Why is no one talking about this? Noteboom tore his ACL + MCL in October , Allen tore his MCL in November. Do you think lineman heal from those injuries in 9 months??? LMAO . They wont be close to 100% until months into the season, that means any injury early in the year means Demby starts again. The guy shouldn't even be on a NFL roster. And our best lineman is a declining 38yr old OT.

Huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, huge, bet we are placing on our personnel. Throw in how our QB plays without elite blocking and a stable running game....sure doesn't seem smart if you're looking at all the facts.

They need to figure out the LG, C and RG personnel. I see an opening lineup of Corbett, Blythe and Evans at RG. That would leave David Edwards to learn under Whit's wing at LT and also backup LG, RG on game day. Allen would battle Shelton and Cabral for backup Center duties.
It depends on who they see backing up Whitworth at LT IMO. Will it be Evans or Edwards? Edwards looks like a physical clone of Whit to me. I think he can handle LT with a year of seasoning under Kromer and Whit. Also makes decent Guard depth. This is assuming Evans is up to the job at RG.

By strategy, you mean that strategy about starting two 2nd year guys and having one go down early in week 6 and the other in week 9. Also losing the vet starting RT in week 9 also. Yeah, I agree, that was a dumb strategy. Maybe this year they should have a healthier strategy.

But of course, I'm worried about the OL anyway. I hope they can stay healthy.

My bet is on Evans for LT too, he's not ideal but I think he's our best candidate. And if Havenstein can come in strong in camp it sort of frees Evans up to focus on LT.

Pointed this out in another thread, but Evans a few years ago had a very strong year at Oklahoma at RT. They moved him to the left side the next year and you could tell he was thinking and he definitely hadn't mastered it. But he's got good feet so IMO he's probably one of the guys they plan on trying there.

I'll feel a lot better if they can get someone in there who can at least look good in starter snaps in preseason. If there's a preseason of course. But I'm definitely thinking Evans has a shot.

OL. Offense goes as the OL does. Stay healthy and hopefully another year they gel together.

LB's is a question more than a concern. I think the RB's will be interesting but a strength by committee.

Position groups of concern in order:
1. ILB. I actually have hope in Kiser, he had some “flash” plays on ST in 2018 which were encouraging. But the other spot will probably be between Howard, Reeder, and Young, all of whom haven’t shown a whole lot up to now.
2. IOL. Edwards seems steady. But the two Austins— Corbett and Blythe— have been up and down. Hopefully they’ll both keep ascending. Worth noting that Blythe had clean-up surgery on BOTH shoulders this offseason, so he was playing hurt last year.
3. Backup CB. Darious Williams has played pretty well, but he’s still green and also short at 5’9””. Adonis Alexander? Um, okay, can’t say I know much about him. NRC was a significant loss IMHO.
4. K. We were spoiled rotten by GZ for the most part... 55 yarders were no problem. Whomever wins the job, will he be able to come through under pressure?

If the Rams can stay healthy, they definitely have the potential to be a playoff team. IMHO 2020 is for a playoff run, and when they’re in a better situation cap-wise in 2021, it’ll be time for a SB run.
