I know the Rams play like almost all of their offensive snaps with Todd Gurley at RB and three WR's (Woods, Cooks, and Cooper Kupp) and Higbee at TE (I thinks that adds up to 11*counts on fingers).

I love our little seen back up RB Malcolm Brown. Dude will hardly ever get on the field, except to relieve our MVP RB, Todd Gurley. Since Cooper Kupp is out for the year, we could tweak what we do by having a double threat with Brown and Gurley. Place Gurley at WR and Brown at RB, or vice versa, with TE's....We have so many talented players, so why not use them differently since Kupp is out anyway? Heck, even add John Kelly into that mix!

I think he'll slow the game down with it being at home. I still expect him to play his hurry up but i expect him to run the clock down on almost every play. He needs the defense tired and our defense to stay off the field. With the Rams having the worst 3rd down defense in the league we'll need to be rested for the 4th quarter. Hope these guys come to play and sure up their tackling or it's going to be a long long day.

I would think it has to be. It's also the only way we're going to slow down Ford and Houston on the outside. While our tackles are good it seems they sometimes have issues with the better pass rushers in the league. This game is going to come down to discipline on the defensive side of the ball for both teams. Tackle tackle tackle.

When McVay was the OC for Washington, he loved to run 2 TE sets. Granted, Higbee and Everett aren't up to the talent level of what he had then, although both of them have the potential to be better than they are at the present. I'm wondering if the increased output we saw from them this past week might portend seeing more of that this week.

Make no mistake about it, I absolutely hate losing Kupp for the year and I really hope to see him at full strength next year, because I have no problem saying he's one of the best WR's in the entire league at this point. That being said, I'd hate to be a DC facing the Rams this coming week. If there is a hidden advantage in the bad situation of losing Kupp, it's that opposing DC's don't know what McVay has up his sleeve to compensate. But they do know he's a brilliant offensive mind and thus has something, and that's a pretty scary prospect.

McVay isn't going to change a thing - because the offense really cannot be stopped. The Chiefs defense doesn't stand a chance of slowing Los Ramos down.

Add a few plays they haven't shown, but this offense is built on a certain tempo, and if he tries to play a slower pace, it may backfire. Play your normal game plan / game speed even if the defense struggles. I bet we will have a couple "Special" special plays from Hekker and Co.

I was actually thinking about this concept last night. It came to mind reading about Le'Veon Bell. For a moment I was thinking what if the Rams could line up Gurley and Bell together; how would that work out? Then, I dropped that thought, but now that you brought it up...hmmm.

After all, it is a league of offense. Why not load up on offensive power and screw the defense. Just, score, score, out score them every game!

and Malcolm Brown? Coupling them together on the field at the same time, was the real point of this thread

I wish McVay would use some draw plays to help slow the rush, maybe he will this week. Gurley gashing them between the tackle and end because the rush left a big hole would certainly slow it down a step because when he gets past the DL untouched he usually picks up 7-15 yards and sometimes more.

Pass on first downs to open up the run.

And this too!

Brown is better than Pharoh and Reynolds to me, considering everything. Gurley lined up as a TE or WR, is better than Everrett, Higbee. Brown is a beast in blocking and as a downhill runner AND can catch the ball.

No reason to change the offense - the offense is all pro level.
Maybe to catch them off guard? The normal offense would still get the majority of snaps, but maybe less if the offbeat works...

I don’t think McVay tinkers with the offense at all. Sure it’s a little different without Kupp, that’s natrual given the situation. But we are what we are, a passing offense that sets up the run, and where the play action owns. We are the 3rd best offense right now in the league, why change that? I’ve been crying out for McVay to run the ball more to take “the air out of the ball”. But I’ve come to grips that it’s just not going to happen.

The offense is supposed to score; it does.

The defense is supposed to make stops; it has struggled.

I get what your saying Loyal, really, I do. But this is about the defense, not the offense (with or without Kupp).

Oh, and I love Malcom Brown.
