So I’m gonna throw out a few things here, some of which might make a few uncomfortable.

Yeah, we won. But geez, the Chiefs spotted us 13 points and 8 penalties before getting started. Then they added 5 turnovers. So, if we meet again in the SB on a neutral field... Gulp.

Talib will make a big difference for the Rams, I’m certain. A much needed one, I might add.

I’m virtually certain that Gurley was hurt early and was not 100%.

Question. Why didn’t either HC emphasize their respective running games to a greater degree? Would have kept the opposing potent O off the field more. I get that Gurley was probably hurt, but Malcolm Brown is no slouch and could have been quite effective. The game resembled Arena football most of the time. Did both HC’s overlook the obvious?

Is Big Whit winding down? Is it too soon to give Boom a few series to get some experience?

Refreshing to see Reynolds, Everett, and Higbee all step up, big time. Perfect timing.

Clearly, the Ram O and ST are SB worthy. But, is the D? We “held” the Chiefs to 51 points. Hard to type that sentence. Merlin and Deacon are spinning in their graves right about now. And Jack Youngblood is unavailable for comment. Lol.

Goff wasn’t perfect, but neither were his conditions to operate. Chiefs are a likely SB team, so any win over such a team is noteworthy. I wouldn’t trade Goff for ANY other NFL QB as of 2018.

AD is superhuman. He routinely wrecks opposing O’s. We got Sooooo lucky with that 13th overall pick.

Hekker was once again a stud when needed most. So many heroes on this team that he probably doesn’t get enough credit.

Is Suh’s presence sufficiently enhancing AD’s opportunities? I mean, $14 million worth? I don’t think so, frankly. I think he’s lost his fastball and is a goner in ‘19.

Don’t think Barron will be a Ram next year, either. Probably some kind of a trade.

Is Fowler’s presence helping Ebu? Of course it is, but I mean does it enable Ebu to become a quality starting OLB? Put another way, was Longacre’s poor play allowing opponents to take away Ebu? Speaking of Longacre, I doubt that he’s among the actives the rest of this season and is a goner next year. Duh!

Don’t know what to make of Peters. I once thought he was a lock to be extended, but now I’m not so sure. Heck, he might get beat out by a CB drafted in the 1st next year. He’s gotta win me over once again. What’s with the socks thing, btw? Sheesh.

Joyner’s a goner. Bank it. He’s very replaceable for a fraction of his salary.

Still predicting a minimum of 3 new starters on D next year. Suh, Barron, and Joyner all goners.

Some others are iffy based upon how they contribute during the final 5 games plus the playoffs.

Brockers
Fowler (salary demands will be a factor)
Ebu (one great game does not a season make)
Peters (can Wade fit him into the system, or not?)

Look, we just allowed 51 points to the Chiefs. We’ve allowed 282 points through 11 games, do the math. In the last 4 games Rams have allowed 154 points. That is not a misprint.

This cannot continue if we hope to go to the SB. And it certainly cannot continue into 2019. Our O and ST can do just so much. Right now this D is resembling AD and the 10 dwarfs a bit too much, don’t you think?

Well, the new darlings of the NFL just gave up 54. But, they're the best and Rams suck. I don't get it.

The pats had 500 yds of offense in the SB and the game was decided on s strip sack

Yep no defense has stopped the Rams this season. If our defense can make timely plays there is no reason why we can't win.

:hiding:
In reality... the defense only gave up 44 and the offense gave up 7 (Goff's strip sack for TD.) I guess when you say "Held" it's all inclusive of offense, defense and special teams. I know, I know... semantics.

I think someone said, "the days of the '85 Bears/'86 Giants" style of defense is gone. So true...so if the defense can come up with key turnovers and scores, then who cares? Right now, this offense is evolving even more as McVay sees the adjustments other teams still continue to make with us. The Saints defense isn't all that great to give up 35 to us at home, gimme a break. They are on fire, no doubt. All due respect to them, they have earned it. We will see them again and i would wager the output will be better, no matter the venue.

Exactly. It's a different game and defenses don't necessarily win Championships anymore. It doesn't make me comfortable saying that, but I think it's accurate to say the NFL doesn't want the 1985 Bears anymore, they want teams like the 2018 Ram or Chefs for exciting football. I think Talib will help the team immensely.

We are Super Bowl bound.

I concur with Rams43's view of next year's Los Ramos weeding of the D.....ie.:

Lemarcus Joyner.....too much dinero for the pop for next year...he can be replaced much more cheaply....maybe we can even get a Compensatory 3rd or 4th Rounder in the 2020 Draft depending how hungry Philly is for ex-Ram safetymen a la Rodney IDontGetNoRespect! McCloud, or if the twin Gotham dolts, Giants or Jets wanna double-down on ex-Ram defenders like Ogletree and TruJo respectively. And let's not overlook the possibility that Gregg BountyGuy Williams might be the Browns HC in 2019, and GW might wanna sign Joyner to a big Free Agent Contract, eh!

I have been a Mark ExocetMissleTackler Barron fan these many years, but he seems invisible this season....probably lost a step via age and multple injuries/surgeries. Barron's moving on from LA will free-up more Salary Cap dollars to add to Joyner's windfall.

And what has happened to Michael Brockers? No sacks....no TFL....not even a mention of his name in most Rams games so far. :( Is he knicked-up? Or is he occupying blockers so Aaron Donald gets all the stats and headlines? I dunno for sure, but John Franklin-Myers looks like a cheaper DLine replacement for Brockers, no?

Suh was a rental from the get-go IMHO. He is over-priced presently, and I am sure he will be snapped up by a poor defensive squad like Tampa Bay where the Bucs Braintrust can wow (read, con) the Tampa Bay Faithful with "Pairing Suh with McCoy will make our D like it was back in the Selmon Brothers days!" Snead could get another 2020 Compensatory Draft Pick for Suh, the same way he's getting one in the 2019 NFL Draft via the Sammy Watkins Rental Plan! :)

Regarding Longacre....the kid is a football player....just not a decathalete okay. Can't we just bulk-up Longacre and make him into a ILB and move Littleton outside? Or leave Littleton inside and just have Longacre replace Mark Barron. Longacre can tackle....he's just a half-step too slow as an Edge Rusher IMO.

One thing I like is how Fowler was being doubled by the Chiefs last night and that allowed Ebukam to wreak havoc on Mahones. So now we have a sleek young ER crew of Samson Ebukam, Dante Fowler and Obo Okoronkwo.....no need for Los Ramos to be drafting in the ER/OLB area in 2019 eh sportsfans???!!!!! :)

Funny how that works, Cowherd even had the Chiefs ahead of the Rams in his rankings, because even with all the turnovers they only lost by 3on the road, so, they’re better.

What’s with the end of defense narrative?
I’m not sure that is necessarily true. I think, this year is like any other year with the exception being the top 3 teams in the NFL
— the Rams, the Saints, and the Chefs — all have high potent offenses and lackluster defenses.

Check out these “normal” scores from this past week and you’ll see that not every team can do what the Rams, Saints, and Chefs have done week in and week out. I think it’s more of an indication of how brilliant these 3 offensive-minded coaches are than the end of defense.

Good points RalphDieterBrock!!

You are correct in that not every NFL QB throws for 400 yds every Sunday like Goff, Brees & Mahones....sound like an accounting firm! :)

I DO wish however that our D would be more effective....
so Jared Goff does not HAVE TO pass for 400 yds every Sunday!!

It's even more ridiculous as three of those turnovers were forced : 2 strip sacks and an int because Mahomes got hit in the arm. Those are not gifts, they were taken. So saying "what if the Rams gave away 5 turnovers" makes no more sense imho than asking "what if Goff threw six touchdown passes ?"

Also left out all the bad stuff going on with shootings, fires, cancelled practices, etc., etc. No media jock seems to mention that as a factor.

If all that wasn't going on, maybe Rams win 88-17!

No i don't and no it doesn't. This is the NFL now. Get torched on defense and hope someone can make a play to late to stop the bleeding. I feel lucky that we've got one absolute game wrecker and a couple other guys who can make a few plays on D too.

Rams are on a bye now. I would suggest to some of you who myopically think that our defense is somehow this exception to the rule and vastly underachieving, while "other" defenses around the league are routinely getting lock downs to turn on your tv's this weekend and watch what's really going on all over the league. D's everywhere are getting torched and gashed by QB's everywhere.

The best teams in the league right now are torching other teams' defenses....and getting torched themselves on D. The Bears are probably the only team that doesn't fit into that dynamic i guess, but even the Bears "lock down D" has surrendered 24, 28, 38, 22 and 20 this season.

Ehh, i'll stop. My point is there are no elite D's in the NFL right now no matter who your DC is or how many game wreckers or lockdown corners you have. Get used to it. Find some peace in it. I have and i'm an old school defensive guy/fan.

The Bucs put up over 500 yards of offense a few weeks ago and scored 3 points. Points matter most.

KC did not commit 5 turnovers.

LA forced 5 takeaways. There is a big difference.

When Pharoh Cooper was coughing up the ball on punt returns in the playoffs, thats more self inflicted.

Donalds strip sacks, Samsons pick, the interrupted throw to Peters... those were players making plays.
Thats the Rams BEATING the fucking Chiefs.

Bring em on in the SB. I want to beat them twice.

Look, its bad enough I have to live in an area infested with Chiefs fans and Mahomeboys...

I never understand statements like this, your pretty much not giving any credit to the defense for holding them to zero early and creating turnovers.

What this shows me is the great offenses these days are the great teams. All these other lower scores are a reflection of poor offense.

If I was a GM today, I would build my team 99% offense, 1% defense.

After drafting your stud QB:

Assemble the best oline. Pay the big bucks for the best players.

Go get a top three running back.

Grab a couple stud tight ends.

Stack a supierior core of exceptional 4-5 wide receivers.

With the little money left over for defense, draft and maybe snatch some garbage from the Canadian league.

And there you have it. That's your Super Bowl winning Team!

Defense is Dead!
