GREG ROBINSONT, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT
Might be one of the many elements Snead & #1 draft selections have not been a priority for him to keep. He just might be still mad & still kicking himself over that decision back in 2014.A quote from Jimmy Johnson -
"Hit me in the head with a hammer if I ever draft a dumb player again."

However, then there's Aaron Donald.
Snead has collected 7 first-round selections on this roster currently plus he also has 9 2nd round selections too. Snead just goes about getting many of them differently than the rest of the other NFL GM's.
Guess might we say Snead is "Abby Normal"?

No. 29 too, Dominique Easley. That really was a great draft class though, you could tell Snead wanted all the players that year and got his hands on a lot of the best ones at some point outside of Khalil Mack and Mike Evans. And iirc they tried pretty hard to get Mack at some point as well.Funny that picks 2,3,4,12,13,20 all traversed the Rams roster along the way but only Donald and OBJ are going for the gold Sunday.

Auburn was a double edge sword back then because Jeff Fisher's son Trent played for Auburn and Les Snead was an Auburn alum. I remember that draft wanting to draft Jake Matthews or Tyler Lewan because I felt Robinson would struggle with pass protection and I believe for a LT Pass Protection is priority one, but agree with you about Robinson, from the neck down he was all world, from the neck up, he was worth a dime.I have a feeling that The Decision to draft GRob wasn't his alone. Back then we had Fisher really running the whole show. Don't forget... Snead was hired after Fisher. Ass backwards. That's what Fisher wanted though... he demanded that he have the last word other than Stan of course. So drafting GRob just cannot be blamed on Snead 100%.
No doubt Snead learned from that pick though regardless. I'm sure that he is a better GM now because of having to live through that pick.
Just a shame, pure and simple. Big Whit playing at a high-level at 40, this guy looking at a decade or two in jail while in his 20's.Robinson was an absolute freak. I get it. If you had the chance to see him up close and see him move, compared to other players his size... you understood the potential reward with this kid.
But.. obviously... he's a fucking idiot.
He's just one example of why the Rams current model and approach is smart.. they really seem to hone in on guys who love football and have good football character. Sure.. they take some "upside swings".. I'm thinking Rochell and Brown this year.. but otherwise, they've been taking a lot of true football players.. not just prospects.
The Rams first round picks are bringing in guaranteed, high-level performance. No waste.
Nope.Just a shame, pure and simple. Big Whit playing at a high-level at 40, this guy looking at a decade or two in jail while in his 20's.
Can't fix stupid.

Good catch on Easley. We also danced with the #1 pick in FA I believe.No. 29 too, Dominique Easley. Agreed and I'm happy for Gus Malzahn one of the nice guys plus you know I have a heart for UCF because they were the first college to accept me and offer me a partial scholarship for football way back in 1984.There sure seems to be a boat load of dumbasses all collected together at Auburn now. We need to stay far away from anything coming outta there.
True but I look at everything bad that happened during the Fisher era as what led us to where we are today. Thank god Fisher wasn't just a little bit better, because if he hadn't been Mr. 7-9 the stars likely wouldn't have aligned for us to end up with McVay.Man, looking at that draft, imagine we picked Mack instead of GRob. What a pass rush we'd have had for all these years. Epic.
