In an attempt to land a future NFL job, Vince Young is apologizing for his past actions.
Young told NFL Network that he recently wrote to Jeff Fisher, his former head coach, and apologized for the manner in which he conducted himself during their joint time with the Tennessee Titans. Fisher is now head coach of the St. Louis Rams, while Young is looking for work after being cut by the Bills before the start of last season.
Young, 29, never got another job in 2012. He will work out for scouts March 26 during the pro day at the University of Texas, his alma mater.
"I definitely wanted to apologize (to Fisher) for the things that I did, letting him know about the frustration, a lot of different things that was going on in my life at the time, and want him to know that I really did appreciate him trying to make me become one of those type of leaders on the team, a successful quarterback," he said.
Young also reiterated that he hasn't lost confidence in his abilities despite sitting out a season.
"I really feel like I can do a much better job than a lot of, most quarterbacks in the league," Young said.
In six pro seasons (five with Tennessee, then 2011 with the Philadelphia Eagles), Young has a 31-19 record as a starter. He's completed 57.9 percent of his passes for 8,964 yards, 46 touchdown passes and 51 interceptions.
