Hunter is legit when he's healthy. But serious injuries in 2020 and 2021 need to be factored in. IMO they can use that as leverage to extend his contract and reduce his cap number this year. They can extend him for 4 years (he's only 27). Signing him will placate AD and that said who knows how long AD will play. Hunter could provide the Rams with long term benefits to continue to pressure with 4 rushers.

Lets say AD retires next year. That would give them a DL of Floyd and Hunter on the edges, Gaines 3T, and Robinson NT. IMO Les needs to work his magic.

The biggest issue with him is his $18.5 million roster bonus. If the Vikings pay it they will require more compensation. If not then the Rams will require more cap space. Aside from that bonus he's very very very affordable.

This is who I brought up within an hour of Von departing. This dude would be my target. His cap hits are not much we have cleared cap and continue to so its a matter of compensation. He is signed through 2023 but also I believe has two voidable years after. He would be my target.

Or if players want to win I'd do (first 2 are obviously discounts although I do believe Clowney is range and Wagner not to far off either. Gilmore would be the question mark).

Clowney 8 million
Wagoner 8 million
Gilmore ??? Million

We could manage that easily with stafford and Donald contracts and even Ramsey could save us a big chunk.

This team then is actually way more balanced and a better team defense back and front end . Running on us would be very difficult.

He's got 2 more years on his contract. The Rams could extend him, with a cap friendly 2022 and spread the rest over 3 years. Or find a way to pay him this year because his cap hit drops pretty far in 2023.

OK, I see that while expensive, Hunter could likely be squeezed under our CAP, but no one has addressed what the actual trade might be, and which draft picks/player comp we'd sacrifice to bring him on-board.

The Vikings aren't going to pay it and trade him. That's the only reason they'd trade him. If the Rams acquired him, I expect they'd have to convert that roster bonus into a signing bonus and add void years to prorate it.

Gilmore with those two might be tough, maybe Janoris Jermain Jenkins would be a tad cheaper.

I thought I read he was owed a huge bonus by Vikings soon unless he was traded or released. Anyone have details on that?

This would be the favourable, although IMO, quite unlikely scenario. The Vikings can't find a trade partner, so they release him. At that point, I would be in pursuit

Yea I can see that. The cap though is a lie so you never know. That said they probably view it totally different anyhow. I cannot lie I'm more annoyed than i am mad so some of my ideas might be coming from good some from panic and trying to regroup lol. This organization always has a plan we are the champs so I will take some solace in that. Lets see what unfolds.

He was hurt last 2 years but in 7 games in 2021 played well and had 6 sacks.
Pressures to and before the last two seasons he was ok. The injuries totally unrelated so kind of freakish. The dude is pretty deadly though and he actually could be a real terror this would be one where yes the AD effect is there but it's somewhat reciprocated with hunter then Floyd. It's not entirely on AD to lift up a mediocre Fowler or an old Ingram.

This is the type of player that can make us just as dangerous. Is he von Miller no but of he can get 29 sacks in 2 healthy years without an AD and a Floyd I'd do what it takes.

I'm thinking that the first call when shopping hunter was to his good buddy who helped him get his new head coaching position. And once von was gone, the rams interest spiked. Barring a different, unforeseen, trade, I really like hunter as our best option right now and we know they have the money to make it happen. A trade seems best especially if it's a mid 2023 pick. The average money for him over the next 2 years for the rams would be around 12 mil a year but if he's released, other teams will jack up the price.
