Championship Games at SoFi

A VERY unlikely scenario

IF both the Chargers and Rams made it to the Championship games AND were both the highest Seeded team would SoFi be required to host back to back games?

Would the Chargers be required to play the game elsewhere?

NY teams have shared a stadium for quite some time why hasn't this scenario occurred before?

I mean... have you seen the NY teams? It's very, very rare they both make the playoffs in the same year. The only year since they've been sharing a stadium where they've both made it past the first round was back in 1986.

It's mostly just the Jets being terrible, the Giants actually have a pretty decent history in comparison.

It's a great question
I imagine they would have to change "Championship Sunday" to a 1 game Sunday & 1 Monday Night

Interesting point. They've been playing in the same stadium the last 41 years (since 1984). Jets have made the postseason 9 times, Giants 16 times but just 4 times in the same season.

1985 Jets lose WC; Giants lose in Div
1986 Jets lose in Div; Giants win SB
2002 Jets lose in Div; Giants lose WC
2006 both lose WC

Rams/Chargers have shared SOFI 5 years now
Rams 4 postseasons (2 home games, the third on Monday)
Chargers 1 (no home game)

Great answer! Monday seems most probable as they wouldn't want to force a team to play the CCG on 5 days off.

2010 NY Jets lost in conference title game, while the Giants were 10-6 but didnt make playoffs, and then won the SB in the next season
Scenario had moments

Yes, but the Jets played the CCG on the road (in 2009 too). In 2010, they weren't going to get a home game as the #6 and final seed. In 1986 the Giants won the SB as the #1 seed in the NFC but the Jets were the #5 in the AFC and hosted the #6 Chiefs in the WC round for their only possible home game. But yeah, the scenario definitely had moments.
