or whatever they are calling themselves this week

the yearly cleansing

out with the old , in with the new

the UFL is dropping three cities , and replacing them with three new cities , and two being renamed

The UFL is adding new teams in Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Orlando, Florida, while relocating the Memphis, Michigan, and San Antonio teams for the 2026 season. These moves are part of a strategy to play in smaller soccer-specific stadiums and enhance the fan experience. In addition, the Arlington Renegades will be renamed the Dallas Renegades and the Houston Roughnecks will become the Houston Gamblers, with both playing in MLS stadiums.

I think scaling down the stadium size is a good idea.

Maybe the WNBA could take the idea and start playing in HS gymnasiums.

Scaling down is a great idea. Wish they'd bring back the NJ Generals and have them play in the Former RedBull arena (Now Si Stadium)
Seats 25k and is an awesome stadium

Hate to see Anthony Becht leave STL. He was competitive there every season.

The league announced they are leveraging his success in STL to help establish Orlando.

I am interested to see what Proehl can do.
Guess he fits the league's desire to hire coaches and players with local ties, since he was on the Bucs at one point. Makes sense though. Orlando has failed to maintain a spring team multiple times— going back all the way to the Orlando Thunder of the WLAF (which that neon green seachicken uniform always reminds me of). I'd imagine it's imperative they have success from the start. They seem determined to make it work down there for some reason.

Edit: Wow, 3 teams that preceded even the WLAF in the 90s. Their failures go all the way to the WLF in the 70s...

I would like to become a UFL fan or XLF or USFL , or what ever they call it this year

but it's hard when there is only 8 teams and half of them change every year

when I saw the new teams I was like , oh , the Columbus Aviators , thats a cool name , but then the logo was a bit of a let down...........lol

the Houston Whatevers are now the Houston Gamblers , I remember them from the old USFL from the 80's , and thought that
was cool

then I saw the Louisville Kings logos and colors , ok , those are cool , maybe I'll root for them , it'll probably just be a one year deal anyways

but I'll probably just wait till they unveil their uniforms and pick one from that

I'm thinking thats how I became a Rams fan.........................lol

I don't know why, but spring football has always grabbed my attention. This latest effort to get it going has been the most funded attempt since NFL owners tried its hand at it with the WLAF/NFL Europe. Being a startup league probably hampered the UFL's ability to negotiate schedules. Resulted in games being played on different times and days every week and even prevented them from having playoff home games! Probably why they had to move the Michigan team out of the city. Hard to establish a fanbase that way. If it doesn't take hold now, I'm afraid it never will. Here's hoping they finally found their footing by playing in smaller venues and trying to establish connections to the cities they play in. Then they maybe they could finally expand like they've wanted to.

As for the teams, I've been rooting for the Battlehawks since XFL 2.0 (pre-covid shutdown iteration). Didn't have a favorite among the USFL 2.0 teams and just hoped for decent games. The AAF had some cool teams, uniforms and logos. Too bad that never even lasted a full season due to all the classic failings of leagues past. Orlando and San Antonio had a pretty decent following in that league. Probably caused them not to invest in the XFL teams that came along after. At least the XFL/USFL had been around a couple years before the merger. Kind of surprising they took on the name of a previously failed league, but I guess it was just a blip and never made an impression except for idiots like me. :laugh1:
