11/16/11 - OCT 14 OHIO VALLEY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Calvin Middleton, RB, Jacksonville State, carried the ball a school-record 38 times on Saturday as he rushed for a career-high 191 yards and three touchdowns in Jacksonville State's 22-21 victory at Southeast Missouri. The victory kept the Gamecocks alive in the race for the OVC Championship and league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Playoffs. The senior scored on touchdown runs of 17, 1 and 11 yards with the final two touchdowns coming in the third quarter as Jax State overcame a 21-9 deficit to win by one point. The 38 carries were the sixth-most by a player in the FCS this season and his three touchdowns were the most by a Gamecock running back this year.
10/09/10 - Calvin Middleton ran for a game-high 97 yards and a touchdown as Jacksonville State remained undefeated after a 30-20 victory over Tennessee-Martin on Saturday. The Gamecocks (6-0, 3-0 Ohio Valley Conference) took a 10-0 lead in the opening quarter after a 12-yard touchdown pass from Marques Ivory to James Shaw and a 22-yard field goal by James Esco. Cody Sandlin kicked field goals of 42 and 21 yards in the second quarter to pull the Skyhawks (2-4, 2-2) to within four points, but short touchdown receptions from Denzel Cheeks and Jamal Young extended Jacksonville State’s lead to 23-6 at halftime. Middleton gave the Gamecocks a 30-6 lead early in the third after a 31-yard touchdown run. Derek Carr threw a 42-yard TD pass to Bryant Milligan and a 6-yard scoring pass to Daniel Chamberlain, pulling Tennessee-Martin to within 10 points with 5:39 left.
