November 20th is a day to honor the lives of transgendered people who were lost to violent acts of murder or suicide. It means more to me now more than ever because I'm not only trans, but because I'm in a wheelchair and was very nearly another statistic. I don't think it's a secret anymore, nor should it be, but I attempted suicide on June 1st of this year.
But this is not about me. This is about remembering and honoring the lives of those who were lost.
For those who died to violent acts.
For those who felt there was no way out.
For those who are still struggling.
Please light a candle to remember them. Because they were people as well, and people still are fighting to be recognized for who they are.
