TRANSCRIPT: Head Coach Jeff Fisher, Special Teams Coordinator John Fassel, QB Sam Bradford, 12-19-12
Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher – Post-Practice – December 19, 2012
(On who he would compare Buccaneers RB Doug Martin to)
“You know, it’s hard to draw a comparison to anyone. He’s just an outstanding back. We had high grades on him coming out of last year’s draft. Knew he was going to be a good pro. Had a lot of touches. He’s got I think over 300 touches. Making a lot of plays in the passing game as well as in the running game.”
(On what he sees from Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson and their other offensive weapons)
“And (Buccaneers WR) Mike Williams, yes both of them. Big, tall, strong targets. Can go get the football. The quarterback trusts them. Of course, they’ve got (Buccaneers TE) Dallas Clark, who I’m very familiar with. They do a nice job offensively. Defensively they’re first in the league against the run in yards per game and in rushing yardage per carry. They had some turnovers last week and couldn’t overcome them, but they’ve been playing well.”
(On how Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman has developed)
“He makes all the throws. The tough part about him is that he’s so big and strong. He’s hard to get down. He can break tackles. He’ll get himself out of trouble just because of his strength.”
(On how much he can tell about the players when they’re still preparing for games despite their chances to reach the playoffs)
“Well, they just come to work. We were actually talking about working hard and improving every day and trying to finish things up strong. There is a slim chance. You’d rather have slim chance over no chance at all. Remember Dumb and Dumber when he says, ‘One in 100?’ and she says, ‘No, not even one in a million.’ So, we’ve got a least one in a million chance. So, we’re in there. Yes, there is a chance.”
(On how he explains a team that is first in run defense in last in pass defense)
“No, it’s just they’ve had injuries and they’re playing young players. What happens is when you’re stopping the run, people, what do they do? They just start throwing it and so that’s basically what’s happened to them.”
(On analyzing WR Brian Quick)
“I think he’s only going to get better. There’s nothing as far as disappointment about where he’s at. He’s working hard at practice and in the meetings and he’s going to continue to improve.”
