Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher – Post-Practice – November 15, 2012
(On if he spoke with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer about game planning for the Jets)
“Well, we’ve got a good plan. It’s important every week that we have a good game plan. He’s familiar with their personnel and, obviously, as we’ve talked throughout the week Coach (Rex) Ryan’s going to change what he does week-to-week. So, in all likelihood we’re not going to see some of the things that we expect to see.”
(On if he sees a lot of Buddy Ryan in Rex Ryan)
“I see a lot of Buddy in Rex and Rob. They’re excellent coaches as Buddy was, and excellent defensive minds and flexible. They can go down the street and coach a four-man line one day and come back and coach a three-man line the next day. They understand defense and they understand how to play defense.”
(On if he can sense that this week is different for Schottenheimer)
“No, he’s been around long enough to know that you don’t get caught up in the personal things. He wants to win just like everybody else wants to win.”
(On how the team responded after playing the extra quarter against San Francisco)
“Well, we’re back. We backed down yesterday and we let them rest up a little bit this morning and we pushed things back. So, they were great today. I think they’ll be fine.”
(On having the team’s first ‘true’ home game in nearly a month)
“We’ve talked about that. The last time here at home we didn’t play particularly well, but the three previous games we did. They’re looking forward to getting back and taking advantage of our fans. We’re playing a good opponent. But it’s nice to finally just get back in a normal routine.
(On if he feels like the team is on the verge of breaking out and getting on a roll)
“We’re just trying to win the next game right now. That’s what we’re trying to do. We’re practicing hard and preparing. We’re starting to heal up a little bit and that’s where our focus is.”
(On if he’s had experience in his coaching career where there were issues in the locker room and if that impacts his game planning when facing teams with those issues)
“I think a lot of that’s overblown. Rex has done a good job. He relates to players well. It’s not going to be a distraction for them. He won’t let that happen.”
