One of my best friends lives in Texas and works for Dell.

Between the people who moved there during COVID and all the data centers going up there, power prices are getting INSANE.

Unless you’re living underground, getting it down to 65 will cost you a MINT!!!

We have a place there now that we rent in Coppell Texas. So we understand the cost during the real dog days of summer. Although 68 is what most people keep it at, just having fun with blood thinning like I have with the family we have down there.

Besides we should be able to conserve when living there full time during November thru March.

When we were in Florida in our house down just south of Tampa, it would be $500/mo to keep it at 72…65??? That woulda been $1000 easy. And we left before the bills went ballistic from the data centers.

Its a convertible. He did put a smaller pully on the blower at one time. I drag race a 69 GTO. back when it was running 12 flate (low 10s these days) he brought his Cobra to the track and raced me. I took off and was GONE. But he was charging hard on top end. My car would cross the line near 110 MPH back then. He blew past me just after the stripe at 130+ MPH. But I won the race.
So he wanted one more crack at me. He tried to dump the clutch at a higher RPM and broke both of his independent rear axles on the starting line.
AA took his car home that day.

The IRS in the 03/04 Terminators was actually really well done for an afterthought to the Fox body chassis. Those half shafts were no good for drag racing as they were never designed for that.

I have buddies who did rear locker swaps in their Terminators and ran deep into the 8s on the stock bottom end.

Mine with the stock IRS (with poly bushings and a diff brace) will run high 10's all day and also go around corners on rails. Sounds like you have a 1320 only car. Cool. I like GTOs too.

We're just south of Sarasota. Keep it between 72 and 75 during the summer and it runs us between 350 and 375 a month. Winter is a piece of cake.

He bought factory axles to fix it. But Mark Williams did make 4340 billet axles back then, spendy.
My car is a pump gas bracket race car. 9" Ford rear, 3 link, 40 spline axles and all the good stuff. New engine makes around 700 HP on pump gas, NA. Pretty sure I can get it in the 9s. My 1/8 mile passes and 60 foots tell me I can. Might not make it to the track this year. Putting up a 1800 sq foot shop for all my stuff.
Some forks are building some 10 second Trans Ams that corner great. There is a guy making blowers like the Hellcats have for our old Pontiac engines. And people are adapting the 8 speed transmissions out of those cars too.
The 70s Trans Ams can be made to corner very well. I am a PMD guy and can not stand it when these guys throw a modern LS in their old cars and think they have done something great. Ruins the car IMO.
A all aluminum 505 Pontiac with a modern blower and fuel injection would be sweet.
Expensive hobby.
You know what, I do have one Ford Modular engine part in my 461 Pontiac. I bought a Steffs aluminum oil pan with the kickout and trap doors ect. But I made my own custom oil pump pickup. I used a Ford Mod Engine pick up cone and tube for the custom pickup. Its way larger dia than the GM stuff. Actually a lot of work.

Moving from Florida to Minnesota

Let’s just say that Florida is hostile in the extreme to one of my children (don’t ask, it’s not a topic for here)…and honestly, I’m big enough that I’m always warm, so always being sticky after 16 years…I was done. LOVE the seasons, actually enjoy the cold and the people here are awesome.

Coming from SoCal in the 70s 80s and 90s (which was completely amazing for the most part)… Florida post 2008 crash started out okay and quickly began to suck. If it weren’t for my grandkids, I would *never* go back. The property insurance nightmares alone…

Each State offers it's areas of opportunity and I guess my dream of a white Christmas was always a white sandy beach plays into it. Been dealing with the cold for so long and having been to Texas every year since 2008 plays into it, plus having family down there.

Props for the move, family is everything and when my wife asked me to get out of military (tough on family) and she wanted to come home to New York to be back with family although I thought we would be better off in North Carolina or Texas I agreed because Happy Wife, Happy Life. Over the years I think that is the only thing she has admitted that I was right about and she was not.

Change of seasons are beautiful and underrated. Here in NYC there is nothing better than the cool of October. Winter can definitely suck, as this past one did, but like you Mack, dont like feeling hot, and especially not year-round.

Change of seasons are beautiful and underrated.

That's one of the things I miss here in Florida. I moved from Lower Buck County, PA, which is a beautiful area. I would go to Bowman's Tower in late September/early October and take pictures from the top. The Delaware River looks so clean from that viewpoint and the colors are breathtaking.

Many, many years ago I used to go to Watkins Glen, NY for the Formula 1 GP every October. The colors are beautiful up there too and the drive from LBC, PA was really beautiful.

My wife likes to say, "give me a beach, a book and a palm tree", so here we are. I love golfing and there are soooooo many in our area. I'm talking 5 minutes from the house. The beach is 10 minutes away. And if I don't want to leave the house, the pool is always 85 - 90. The AC works fine (2 years old), so I'm okay with a beer, some bud and NFL+ !!!! Besides, anytime I really miss the Northeast, I pack the RV and go see the kids. A perfect world.

Oh yes, dont get me wrong, Florida rocks too. Its always been a dream of mine to relocate to Miami. Brooklyn is still pretty great, and Im a half hour away from one of the greatest Cities in the world. Just recently had 2 great days on vacation in Manhattan. The Communist Mayor is TRYING to ruin it but hasnt ruined it YET. Oh, Florida's comin, eventually......

The literal cost, haha.
Its expensive and crowded....turns out a lot of folks like good weather.
When I moved away from San Diego I didn't even own a jacket, didn't need one.
