Blockbuster Deals That Would Blow Up the NFL Trade Deadline
Kristopher Knox
The 2019 NFL trade deadline is upon us. At 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the market will close, and teams will be prohibited from making deals until the start of the new league year.

While the NFL's deadline hasn't traditionally come with the same fanfare as that of Major League Baseball, teams have been willing to make significant deals in recent years. With players like Jalen Ramsey, Mohamed Sanu and Michael Bennett already changing locations, this year's trade market is shaping up to be even more significant than usual.

What sort of deadline moves would make this year's trade market truly memorable? We'll examine some potential blockbusters that would do exactly that.

Some of these are based on rumors, while others are based on pure conjecture. We'll be staying in the realm of possibility, though, so we're not doing anything like sending Tom Brady to the Chicago Bears.

I don't think they need to make a trade to fix RG. I'd hold onto remaining picks if I'm Snead and turn to my depth which is there for a reason. We don't need a stud RG to get the run game going. We just need someone who can actually stay on a block and not be a liability and limiting the breakdowns will result in our run game naturally turning the corner. Time after time after time we have seen how close this run game is to breaking big gainers.

I don't think they need a trade to fix our secondary's tendency to give up chunks on 2nd down (seems like a trend of late) or otherwise put themselves continuously in 3rd down and short situations. Which in turn lead to the defense getting its stops around midfield at best and our offense starting with garbage field position.

All they need to do IMO...

1. Bench Blythe. It's called accountability and when you don't have it the lack of give a F will spread like a cancer on your roster. I would insert Shelton and use the bye to get him ready for the next game.

2. Finish the transition to Henderson as feature back. Gurley is going to get fewer touches than him it is only a matter of time. Quicker the Rams get there mentally the better for their record. Timing of his emergence is good for the Rams btw, as their OL is already improved over the unit we saw early this season thanks to Edwards.

3. Get NRC's head right or sit him and play Long in the slot. Long has the coverage ability to take that job. I'd be working him in there in practice to let NRC know I'm not fuckin around.

Running the ball better and tightening up the secondary will transform this team into a contender. It is that simple.

We have a thread for this

Hehe
Easier to go to one thread for the trades than have one pop up for each trade plus rumors can get posted here. Usually makes easier discussion if it's going on in one thread instead of a dozen.

Btw that pick from the Cards can become a 5th which would be the 5th the Dolphins gave the Cards for Rosen.

After his first year with the Giants I thought we let the wrong guy go when we franchised Tru Johnson. After the second year I realized we shoulda let them both go.

Sean McVay suggests Rams may not be done dealing before trade deadline

There isn’t a lot more the Los Angeles Rams can do before the trade deadline after making three deals two weeks ago, but that won’t stop Les Snead and Sean McVay. The always-aggressive tandem will explore potential deals right up to the 4 p.m. ET deadline on Tuesday.
There probably won’t be a deal with the magnitude of the Jalen Ramsey trade, but don’t be surprised if the Rams make another move before Tuesday afternoon.

“To say that we’re done, I don’t know – I think we’re always looking to do things that are in the best interest of our football team,” McVay said after Sunday’s win over the Bengals. “Those are some things that Les and I will look at and we’ll figure out if there’s a situation to be had that maybe upgrades us, that maybe fits within the framework of not only just this year, but the entirety of what we want to do the next couple years. I would never say never, but I don’t know that you’ll expect some kind of move like what the Ramsey one was.
“But we’ll see, it’ll be something we’ll evaluate. The deadline’s coming up in the next couple days so it’ll be a short window for us to do anything with that flight back.”
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Sunday that the Rams are open to trading veteran players before the deadline, including cornerback Aqib Talib. The logic, according to Schefter, would be to free up some money to “pay a player like Jalen Ramsey.”
However, Talib and other veterans such as Michael Brockers will be free agents after this season, therefore no extra cap space will be added in 2020 if they’re traded.

As always with the Rams, don’t rule anything out. They’re never afraid of making blockbuster trades, even during the season.

He's said this exact thing every time they've asked him about whether or not we'll make a trade :)

I hate reading that ... because I really like Gurley ... but for at least this season, you may be right. At minimum, the OL problems have gotten into Gurley's head and made him indecisive on a lot of runs, where Henderson doesn't seem to have that problem. I'm hoping it's a temporary thing, like 2016 was with Todd ... but for the present time, it appears that you have correctly stated reality, even if I and others don't like it.

Projected playoff bound teams who have the excess salary cap $$$ that might trade for CB Talib:
