Todd Gurley on "The Jump"?

Thanks for posting!

Speaking of the jump.....

Has the Gurley man even attempted one of his signature jump/hurdles this season?

I always got fired up when Todd timed one of his hurdles over an opposing LB or DB.

McVay sticking to the plan. Expecting Gurley to be fresh for the last month of the season.

Gurley is such a cool cat during his interviews, I love the way he responds to some of these reporters dumb ass questions.

This Gurley crap is getting old . There is something going on behind the scenes that isn't being talked about . The whole offense was seated 20 yards to the left of me and Gurley never once was part of it .
He stood directly in front of me and was lackadaisical the entire game . I got tired of him being in all my pictures I tried to take . I never saw him look at any game pictures or talk with McVay , and no one approached him . He just stood there with no helmet and half the time not even watching the game .
If I'm paying a guy 15 million to be a leader and playmaker , he better have his ass within shouting range when they have the ball . I really like Gurley , but there is an obvious disconnect between him and this team . I'm sure everyone will think I'm crazy , but I just watched 4 hours of him directly in front of me showing no emotion and playing every 3rd series. His body language is concerning

It's nice that Gurley will be fresh once the Rams roll to 7-9 or 6-10. He should be ready to go for the 2020 season (y)

Rams have really fallen. They have a lot of talent....and they will have to get Evans. Corbett and maybe draft a center next year. Havenstein has been a good player---he will regain form in 2020. O line will be good next year...NO DOUTS. Look what McVay did to the offense in 2017 with the WRs and the O line.....he will do it again....Noteboom being out really makes it all more difficult.

Rams defense gave up 10 points on the road....not bad...

Todd Gurley on not getting any carries in fourth quarter of Rams loss: 'I'm used to it'

The Los Angeles Rams have used some questionable tactics with the usage of All-Pro running back Todd Gurley's carries all season long, a common occurrence since a mysterious knee injury forced Gurley to miss two games at the end of the 2018 regular season and limited him to 10 carries in a Super Bowl 53 loss to the New England Patriots.

Gurley has shot down all reports about the long-term problems with his knee, but has yet to receive 20 touches in a game this season. Gurley finally showcased his frustration after Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a contest which he didn't receive a single carry in the fourth quarter. Gurley finished with 12 carries for 73 yards, an average of 6.08 yards per carry.

"Um, not really. I'm used to it," Gurley said regarding his fourth quarter usage, via Vincent Bonsignore of The Athletic.

The Rams were trailing 14-10 entering the fourth quarter, a game which remained a one-score affair throughout the final 15 minutes. Gurley wasn't even a factor in the final quarter as the Rams ran three running plays to 16 pass plays, all running plays were carries by No. 2 running back Malcolm Brown.

Rams head coach Sean McVay did give a "ho-hum" answer to Gurley, two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler, not touching the ball once in the fourth quarter. Same story, different day.

"That was kind of just the rotation," McVay said after the game, via The Rams Wire of USA Today. "Sometimes, it's where we're getting on – because I'm on both sides of the headset and there's a lot of trust for our
coaches to really be able to say, 'Who's in' and I'll kind of click back on and we know what we're going on.

"I thought Todd really had some tough, hard-earned runs. We got some drives going, but then at the end of the day, we ended up being in some two-minute situations at the end of the game and it was kind of hard to get back into any sort of flow running the football."

The lack of fourth-quarter usage isn't new for Gurley this season. Gurley has just 23 carries for 100 yards in the fourth quarter this year, not getting a carry in four of the Rams' nine games. He has just 10 carries for 18 yards in the fourth quarter over the last seven games.

The Rams have a problem they need to figure out with one of the highest-paid running backs in the game. Bottom line, Gurley just isn't getting the ball enough.

Wow....very interesting take. Gurley is very classy when interviewed, granted his comment to Vinnie yesterday was a little subtle jab. However, he has been a team guy when addressing stuff publicly. Now the visual you describe obviously is way more telling. He got his dough, the team showed their financial commitment to him knowing the risks. How tough is it to show interest during a tight game? I will never, ever call Gurley out as a typical selfish athlete, he's been the exact opposite. But if this is how he is going to express himself when we are literally fighting for this season, it bums me out. I get it that he wants to be the man and the team is handcuffing him. I thought he was awesome yesterday....the new OC (besides McVay) better figure that out quick. Yes, we need Brown to offset and rest him, but we need to figure out a way to create a 2-back formation that will leverage every asset on the field. Which means Henderson needs to step up to be part of the 2-back formation when needed.

At a loss for yesterday......it's such a game of inches but it seemed like they found a way to crack the Steelers D-Line and then would let up. Surprised they didn't try to run the the tackle/TE gap a little more rather than up the gut so much to capitalize on the nice gains by Gurley.

No, you're not crazy. Keyshawn noticed the same thing during the Atlanta game and he discussed it with LZ and Travis on the LA ESPN morning show. Keyshawn said that when Goff scored in the Atlanta game (the one where Goff ran it in and I think Henderson was in as RB instead of Gurley), he noticed that Gurley was sitting on the bench, with his helmet off and not really participating or expected to jump in the next play. It struck Keyshawn as odd and that it suggested to him that there must be something going on behind the scenes. I haven't listened to the morning show this morning, but I'm curious what Keyshawn has to say. It has been really weird. Gurley seems to get along with Goff off the field, so it doesn't seem to be a QB vs RB kind of thing -- but something is off. I just don't know what.

I thought this in the Whiner game too. We literally marched down the field on them like butter. Up 7-0. Then we completely abandoned the run and looked like crap on O rest of day. I'd rather have Fisher ball in some games, and it pains me to say that.

It seems McVay is too much Martz, too little Fisher. He is a great head coach, leader of men, but if/when he figures out that balance, we'll be rolling.

It's not that hard to figure out. You have a player who's arguably the best at his position in the league, saying he's good to go, yet the coach never puts him in? He's obviously feeling defeated, which I completely understand. I mean he could open his mouth and prob start a chain reaction through out the locker room, but that's not what's best. If coach is going to treat him like a back up rb, no harm in acting like one. He's not even a captain anymore (which is bullshit).

So which is it McVay.

TG is on a pitch count or is his touches based on the flow of the game?

It can’t be both. Because if it was flow then TG would have played the 4th quarter. But the fact he was out the 4th quarter points to a pitch count.

Don’t really care one way or the other. It’s just us old ass fans for 45 years would like the truth.

I wasn't exaggerating or overreacting just because of the ugly loss . He was standing by himself every time he wasn't in the game . My son said on the way home that they were trying to get him in on a 3rd down play , but by the time they got his attention and he located his helmet it was too late .
It's not like he has a mic in his helmet and knows what's going on . He wasn't paying the least bit of attention and was looking back at the crowd half the time . He wasnt getting any treatment on his supposed sore knee . Theres something off with his attitude . Clay Mathews was the complete opposite when he was off the field . He studied pictures and was into the game the entire time .

From another thread, Gurley had 11 snaps out of 17 in the 4th quarter according to Next Gen and no carries.

Zero carries.

The coaching staff use him as a pass blocker.

The coaching staff is less than truthful.

Shit is getting old. If the mans hurt do an injury settlement and move on. It’s hurting the team.

I agree with you. Weird no one in LA is talking more about it. Something is definitely up.

The truth will eventually come out.

It's making me laugh though how the coaching staff is the culprit...

Here is a thought - they are helping the guy play one more year and get another years salary at least. - partially because they own his massive contract.

I'll go this far - this was something that all parties are aware of and likely was discussed before this year even started.

Anyone willing to bet me mass amounts of ROD cash?

Why is it making you laugh. The coaching staff is full of shit. McVay says it’s the flow of the game that determines how many snaps Gurley is in the lineup. And there is no snap count.

He gets his money regardless. They are not getting him one more year. He gets paid period.

Stop the bull shit.

Thanks for the insight. I made a few comments about the way he carried himself, looked disconnected, and refused to acknowledge McVay one time when coming off field after a touchdown and coach was trying to congratulate him in the past few weeks. He’s always been a little low key and I don’t want to make a mountain out of a mole hill but something is definitely up behind closed doors. I respect everyone for keeping it behind closed doors so who knows. Might just be frustration as we all have that ourselves. But it’s certainly weird.
