Cydekikk on the Stl Today forum wants to join ROD but says his IP address is being blocked and doesn'tunderstand why ..

I've seen his post for years and imho he's never been a trouble maker. Ever.

IP addresses don't get blocked here... so that doesn't make sense.

Maybe he was a member here previously and got banned? That still wouldn't block his IP address... but previously banned members are not permitted to re-join. Once you're banned... it's forever.

So again, saying his IP is blocked doesn't make sense.

I used to block IP’s years ago when people would join over and over and over again after being banned. His might have gotten caught up in my mass murdering of a city’s population, but if you & Danielsan purged that system, then I don’t have an explanation either.

We know the IPs of banned members.... this much I am sure of. However, Dan-o is the tech mind and I'm just here for my beauty. He may need to edge-i-macate us on what might be happening.

I might have rejected a new user from the manual queue. He either was a previously banned user or provided incomplete registration. Would likely have been one of those two reasons.

He can try again.

I’ve have this happen about twice a month on average.
I usually access ROD through my phone.
I have to power my phone down and let it sit maybe 30 seconds and power it back up. Sometimes have to do this a couple times in a row for it to reset.
This fixes it.
The message I get is “Your IP address has been blocked”.

I’m assuming it’s my phone.
I’ve never been banned either.
Rebooting the phone does the trick.

I get this, but rarely. If I walk my dog out to the North sometimes it'll ban me once I leave my wifi signal; my connection switches to the nearest antenna. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but if someone was banned without home wifi and used that same antenna to sign on, maybe that could potentially do it.

Would it matter or not if I had a cookie on my device versus the rando that was smoked by the ban hammer? Should signal me as a known user, no?

Had wifi off and just got the banned message while using cell phone data (AT&T). Never had any post of mine cause any serious unrest, so i doubt that's it. Switched on wifi to make this post without an issue.
