These trades are “fair” to both teams under the Trade Value Chart (points in parentheses). Would you agree to any of them?

Better asked after Round 1 is complete. If there are multiple top players dropping into our #36 range, then my answer is probably not, but if the strongest players on our board are gone, then sure.

It could be fun to bump this at the completion of Round 1. As you said, we’ll be in a better position to assess whether dropping back to obtain two Round 2 selections is desirable.

For now, I’m just dealing with the “math.”

I'm not a fan of trading down 19 spots. 10 max and if they include a 5th or 6th, they could end up with 4 in the first 4 rounds (2nd, 3rd and 4th rds) and 7 the rest of the way. The whole thing is finding a partner.

There is also the possibility of trading down one of the 3rds to pick up a 4th but that might drop their total to 10 picks. Still good

I think I keep our 3 picks in the top 77, of those trades.

I do expect one trade down of those 3 to get an extra pick, like a pair of 4th rounders.

Like the jets because there will be players that we absolutely covet in the early 40s.

I just don't want them to trade down too far because they traded down 3 times and netted Rapp - there are a ton of star players picked between the end of the first round where we sat and #61 where Rapp sat I am sure we would have like any of those more looking back now.

I'm pretty reluctant about trading out of a current 3'rd round pick, but I'd still trade Higbee and a 2024 draft pick for a relatively high 4'th rounder in a heartbeat.

I don’t disagree with this. I think I definitely do it if we draft a guy like LaPorta.

I like those 3 picks top 77.

The math on all 3 scenarios works out just fine.

But I think Snead is looking for a way to trade down and pick up either a late 3rd or early 4th. Snead needs more picks in that draft ‘sweet spot’ through top 100.

Otherwise, what’s the point?

You could trade down into the 80's and still get a late 4th. So can still have three 3rds and get an extra 4th.

Depends on who is available when it's our turn to pick.

Well, these examples were designed to present scenarios in which the math would work if the Rams wanted to try to get two picks in Round 2. That is, of course, just one of many possible trade strategies.

I do agree that Snead may very well look to bridge the current 90 pick gap (!) between our last pick on day 2 (#77) and our first pick on day 3 (#167).

Here’s a link to the TVC in case anyone wants to pitch other scenarios:

As long as we still get Gibbs, trade down as much as you want!

Definitely.

If there’s a guy left who is head and shoulders above the rest in the Rams’ eyes, you sprint to the podium and don’t look back.

If there are several guys with comparable grades on our board though…hope to find a team willing to overpay for the chance to get their guy!

They might feel with the depth of Edge in this draft, even if 5 go off the board in the first, there will still be one available at 40-45. But man, that #36 might get us a true stud. Stranger things have happened. If there is one there, grab him. They could always work one of those 3rd round picks for a trade down further in the 3rd and pick up a 4th. Might have to give up one of those 5ths or a 6th and a 7th. But we could live with that. #36 though? We have never taken a player that high with Snead/McVay. I can also live with sitting pat, especially if they get a stud or two among those first 3 picks.

Man…

How deep is your love for Jahmyr?

Hopefully he’ll be staying alive on our board until #36. If he makes it past the first round, you’ll probably suffer a night fever waiting until round 2 starts.

It would be a tragedy if we miss him by just a couple of picks. We’ll try to console you, but how can you mend a broken heart?

It was WAAAY worse with Humphrey. I suffered like a SUMBICH, as our pick drew closer and closer, expecting him to be snatched up with every pick before us. THEN he was right there! We HAD him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We needed a Center and he looked like a good one (I didn't know how good he would be). I waited while Les and Sean called our draft pick to welcome him to the Rams, and then it was Tutu getting the call. @OldSchool and I will never get over it!

So now I have to do a post with Creed song titles?

I don’t know… maybe you should just accept Tutu with arms wide open at this point.

I like the first and second ones. Most of our picks are on the third day. I'd hope we could set up trades that maximize the number of day 2 picks.

These are definitely scenarios that work on paper and I really like your first one but each has multiple picks and multiple moving parts which I think makes them less than likely. Most draft day trades have one pick going for multiple and not multiple for multiple. But put me down for your 1st scenario.

What I'm curious about is whether Rams shop their 2nd rnd pick or 3rd for more picks in the top 100. I'm sure that all depends on how the board plays out.
