Three Rams land on Dominik's ultimate 53-man roster

In what has become an annual preseason tradition for ESPN NFL analyst Mark Dominik, the former NFL general manager offered up his ultimate 53-man roster on Tuesday.
Dominik's roster is built within the confines of the current salary cap of just over $142 million. Otherwise, he's free to pick players from any team he wants to fill any positions.
As it turned out, Dominik chose three members of the St. Louis Rams for his roster. The players? Linebacker James Laurinaitis, defensive tackle Aaron Donald and cornerback Janoris Jenkins.
Donald's presence is essentially a no brainer considering he's already one of the best tackles in the league and his rookie contract makes him a bargain at a cost of a little more than $2.3 million. He'd probably land on anyone's list.
Laurinaitis and Jenkins might be a little more of a surprise but there's sound logic behind both choices. Dominik chooses Laurinaitis to be his strongside linebacker on the basis of leadership and the positional flexibility to be his backup in the middle. After big cap numbers in previous years, Laurinaitis' number drops to $4.275 million this year.
Jenkins is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is also considered a bargain at a little less than $1.6 million. Clearly, Dominik thinks highly of Jenkins and refers to him as "underrated" in his explanation for the choice. Dominik even has Jenkins listed as his starter opposite Joe Haden.
