The Jets definitely won the strategic chess game, on both sides of the ball Sunday. And that’s a reflection of coaching as much as player performance. As an example of that chess game, Fisher talked about putting two backs in the backfield as blockers, anticipating pressure.

Do that, and that means you’ve got just three receivers out on routes. If three route-runners are trying to get open against five or six defenders in coverage, that can take a little more time and keep the quarterback holding the ball longer.

“It’s a defense where it’s very hard to go through normal progressions because it’s a little unorthodox,” Fisher said. “And it creates problems for quarterbacks.”

[hil]Maybe so. But it didn’t create many problems Thursday night for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.[/hil]

You irritate me, Jim Thomas. Don't fucking pander to the dolts on your site, and DEFINITELY don't repeat their stupid arguments. It didn't create many problems for Tom Brady (in his 12th year) who's in basically the same system for over a decade, and the Patriots (the top scoring team in the league)? Did you really say that? Did you really imply that if the Patriots can dismantle the Jets, then the Rams should be able to do it as well? Does it help that Brady has the TIME to go through his progressions and has the TIME to let his receivers get to the top of their routes?

Honestly. As far as comments go, that one was just dumb.

JT, Bernie and the entire crew at the StL PD ONLY exist to serve junk food, in the form of sports media, to the lowest common denominator audience, feeding their carcinogenic thoughts. They're just like any fastfood chain, serving cheap crap food that fills the stomachs of their audience while simultaneously contributing to the cancers that grow inside them.

No you're wrong. We did beat the Niners. Fuck the officiating.

And these reporters...I agree. I follow a number of teams on twitter, and they constantly retweet their beat writers and I don't see shit like this.

Is it any wonder why there is so much stupidity on that board...honestly there is no one credible for the PD for the Rams. The national media is actually better. When do these guys retire, so there can be a revamp?

There's a semi-revamp that was announced today, though I already knew of one of the moves previously.

Burwell is no longer the #2 columnist, though he will still write 2 columns a week. He'll be in more of an online T.V. type of thing, which requires the building of a studio for him.

Strauss moves to the #2 columnist spot.

Goold moves to the #1 Cardinals beat writer spot.

Humell will cover the Cardinals more.

Goold fully deserves that beat writer spot. He reminds me of Mike Sando in his use of statistics. The decision to replace Burwell is long overdue. Don't particularly care for Strauss or Hummel, though.

I don't think it's a lack of the ability to get a team a plan that will work that is the limiting factor of the Jets coaching staff, nor that they are much if any less talented than we.
They are better than us according to the records, so they didn't win the rest of their games with smoke and mirrors.
We've all seen Wayne Hunter play far beyond expectation and there are others on this team who the Jets didn't see as worth paying to keep.
JMO but NY is a nearly impossible place to play with the sort of leadership they have , football acumen and talent aren't their biggest problem ,it's the ability for any utterance to explode in the press and the head guy being unable to ask people to shut their big mouths since his is the biggest one around.
IMO a mid level or better team was united by the cacophony of national criticism to focus all their energy on a team that was somewhat self satisfied with having played the "mighty 49'rs" to a standstill in a hostile environment . Last night we saw the Jets return to form, and JMO their fans do a whole fucking lot to facilitate that . Seldom have I seen a team more suddenly snakebit as the Jets were last night in that first half and MAN when they are down their fans kick 'em like few if any others.

I expect two superlative efforts from the Rams these next two weeks, I think they've regained their humility and aught to be ready to play .
Sunday one of two losing streaks will come to an end ,I think it's ours ,wait maybe that needs to be reworded, I think our winning drought ends

Not withstanding all the times Brady had to play against this defense when Rex was the Ravens the D-Coordinator, he also faces Rex's Jets defense twice a year since "Sexy-Rexy" took over in 2009. Big difference IMO.
