Let’s see...

These are in no particular order, and I’m not counting the obvious previous Ram star players such as Goff, Gurley, Joyner, Brockers, etc.

Cooks
Kelly
Malcolm Brown
Noteboom
Myers
Ebukam
Littleton
Shields
Talib
Peters

Zuerlein might be the best news of all, although he’s certainly not “new”.

Some of those names were stars on other teams, but they are new Rams that are exceeding already high expectations, so I included them as pleasant camp surprises.

As an aside, I was hoping for more positives on Demby. Sigh...

So, who did I miss?

New veteran LB in the mix, Ryan Davis 6'2" 260lbs 4ysrs with Jax, one ea with Dallas and Buff.

Don't know what # Rams gave him, I think he was one of the LB that had their shirt rolled up so you couldn't see his #. I WILL find out and get a good look at him. He kind of just snuck onto the team. Another veteran LB in the mix can't hurt.

I’ve read several times that Demby and Noteboom both have looked good in their snaps on the left side.

Having vets like whit, Sullivan and saffold makes developing linemen alot easier. These young linemen getting better is exactly what this team needs now and in the future .

I think cooks is going to be ELITE in this offense.

I hear you, Bubba. Good problem to have, but I will be curious who gets pushed out the door. Will there be another Akeem Ayers situation, where a guy gets brought in as a veteran, almost an assumed starter, or valuable backup, then gets cut in a numbers game, because other guys outshine him. (Ramik Wilson?)

We have a ton of linebackers. I wonder if there are concerns about Matt Longacre coming back to full health. Teams sure have to plan for injuries, and be at 150% capacity.

My current view of linebackers, (will we keep 9?):

Starter/Safe: Barron, Ebukam, Littleton,
Good shot at starting/still something to prove: Longacre, Wilson, Hager
Midround Rookie that should make the 53: Kiser, Obo
Guys making noise in camp: Davis (DE?), Franklin-Myers (DE?), Lawler (DE?)

Others: Tegray Scales, Ejuan Price, Travin Young, Travis Howard, Garrett Sickels.

Also, I am a bit confused about DE vs, OLB. Is this just a package distinction in Wades defense? Hand in the dirt, vs. upright stance? Maybe someone can help me.

There are going to be a couple surprises. (Happens every year.) And a couple of good players, or veteran insurance policies that are left out in the cold.

My semi-bold guess, in this snapshot in time:
DE-DT: Franklin-Myers - will not count toward Linebacker numbers. He will rotate in behind Brockers or Donald.
OLB: Ebukam, Longacre, Davis, Obo PS: Young, Lawler **Possible Longacre to IR, with Davis, Lawler or later Obo winning starting spot.
ILB: Barron, Littleton, Wilson, Kiser PS: Scales

Cut: Price, Hager, Howard, Sickels

I'd rather keep Howard on the practice squad at least. He was dominant at TCU.

Why are you so gung ho on Davis? We haven't even got to really see him in TC yet. I'm going to wait before guessing. But I could see Davis and Young battling it out for a final spot.

I' just got back from todays practice and I'll be addressing some of these questions in my camp report. I have to eat dinner and sort through my notes. Hope to have it posted in a couple of hours.

So hard to make judgments off of what they've done so far. It's just too early and there's a lot of football ahead for these guys to battle it out.

The scrimmage and game vs the Ravens should provide the first real bit of clarity, where some guys will help themselves a lot and others won't, but even after that first game we're still very early in the process.

One thing I'm sure of is that this is a legit deep playoff contender.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but the other 31 teams are also putting out positive camp reports.

I don't see Hager getting cut. With Cody Davis departing in FA, we're not going to want to cut a standout special teamer like Hager.

It’s not me. It’s camp reports from the Coach, and our guys Vet and Bubba too.

But it’s early. A lot can happen.

John Johnson Is good !! Always around the ball ! A guy easy for Rams fans to forget. If you look at his tackle numbers from last season it’s proof!! He was 3rd on the team in tackles. Mo Alexander got cut ! Johnson only startered after a few games in as a rookie. That to me is impressive.
The Rams came out after the team huddle to finish practice on a 2 point conversion. The starters !! Gurley caugt the ball in front of Johnson. Johnson had his hand in there. Gurley held it tight. Good play & way to finish up all around. The day before Mike Thomas finished with a TD.

2nd squad stayed out & the defense won.

—The 2nd team defense stuffed the first team in 11 on 11’s Excellent job.

Troy Hill is so solid. He came up with a int.

I liked the way Peters talked him up in his recent camp interview too. It wasn't just the usual kind words for a teammate, he is clearly impressed by both JJ and Joyner and went on about how they both play fast and have great instincts.

I expect nothing less than an elite secondary and will be extremely disappointed if they don't measure up to that. But I am confident they will. This defense's ceiling is all about the run game and the edge rush IMO.

Sure would have been nice to be reading up on camp reports about Okoronkwo right now... Longacre too.

The Gods have been good to us lately, but I hope LBer doesn't prove to be our Achilles heel. Our most unproven, arguably weakest unit is battling injuries from the get go.
