Terrell Owens once had "25 million reasons to be alive." That apparently, didn't help the 37-year-old free-agent wide receiver draw scouts to his workout in Calabasas, Calif., on Tuesday.
Not one of the NFL's 32 teams decided to have someone attend.
Last Thursday, Owens agent Drew Rosenhaus shared enthusiasm via Twitter about Owens looking "100 percent" healthy again after recovering from offseason knee surgery on a torn ACL. Part of that sentiment was Rosenhaus diving into the process of talking to several teams that would have interest in his high-profile client.
Owens is one of the hardest-training and most well-conditioned athletes in football history, so it's no surprise that NFL Network cameras caught him looking smooth in running drills and showing his impressive physique.
Despite the lack of scouts, Owens and Rosenhaus looked pleased with the work the receiver did on the field at Calabasas High School—where Owens' friend, former NFL wide receiver Matthew Hatchette, is an assistant football coach.
Owens told the NFL Network after the workout that he was unfazed by who wasn't there and remains confident he'll find a sixth receiver-needy team to sign him soon.
"I only need one team," Owens said. "I only need one chance."
With several teams struggling to get their downfield passing game going and the NFL trading deadline come and gone, expect a veteran-laden club with strong coaching to take a bargain flyer on Owens' services soon.
