It is funny, if you would have told me that we would be 8-1 at this point in the season, I would have been extremely happy, which I am. What I wouldn't have expected is such negativity in the fan base. Honestly, if you didn't know what our record was, and read through this board, you would think we were 3-6. It is crazy. I understand that expectations are constantly in flux, and as you do better your expectations go up, but man, everybody needs to calm down a bit. We are 8-1 and have a legit shot at having not only a first round bye, but Home Field Advantage throughout the playoffs. We are in fantastic shape and in a great position.

Sometimes you have to back up and look at the big picture. The chances of going undefeated through the Super Bowl are so slim, that it should never be an expectation.

2 years ago, after 9 weeks, we had Jeff Fisher as a coach, we were 3-5, we had scored 20 points in only 2 games, and we had lost to the Giants, Bills, 49ers, Lions, and Panthers.

That season we would win 4 games, score 20+ Points 4 times, and score 10 of fewer points 9 Times.

Now I am not saying that we can't criticize different aspects of this team, but it should be kept within the broader context.

Go Rams.

Depends how the midterms go, regardless of the results half the country will feel the sky is falling.

Also, be glad we lost a close game to a formidable opponent. Our first loss could have been an egg to the 49ers or Hawks. Thank God for small favors.

This is so true, it's the same fans that hit that "different opinion" button when you express your opinion on going undefeated in a season. The fact that striving for perfection is often missed and results in no Lombardi Trophy. The same people that think Goff is not elite because he didn't lead his team back from 35 to 14 at halftime. The same people that kept on calling our Defense the Dream Team before they even played a snap together.

I appreciate the perspective reminder.

But I’m not seeing any “sky is falling” posts, tbh.

I do see a lot of healthy concern about our underachieving D of late. I’ve put in my share, as well.

Either Wade will figure this out or he won’t.

If he fails to bring this D up to at least average then even I don’t see much Ram success vs elite teams and QB’s that we’ll face in the playoffs.

Even our O and ST can do just so much. Sigh...

The only sky that's falling is on Marcus Peters head.

But hey there is still time to change that...hopefully.

The Rams lost to the toughest team opponent on the schedule so far. That fuels the fire against them. So be it. Nothing the Rams can do about it now except press on.

The Saints will lose more games this season btw. It's just the way the ball bounces.

We lost, true. But we also came back down 35-14 after halftime to tie it in one of the most hostile and difficult places to win in the NFL. Also against a vet having a career year and a receiver having a career day.

I didn't like the result but I thoroughly enjoyed that game.

for sure there was plenty of positive in that game like goff bringing us back to tie, fowler looking very good, kupps return with a td. but I can't accept that I should not be angry about a loss. don't care if we are 8and0 or 0and8 I am not happy with a loss

Big picture? Rams are 8 - 1 and a very good football team that, in all likelihood, will make the playoffs.

But... if they do not figure out how to effectively defend teams with elite QBs, their playoff run is in jeopardy.

That's not being negative to me... that's reality right now.

So, let's get that one part fixed and run the freaking table!!

I see a rematch with the Saints in the NFC Championship Game were the winner goes to the Super Bowl!

Having lost to them in the regular season this team will have more FIRE and FOCUS to defeat their foe.

Things are fixable:

1) Next time Peters bites on a double move or lets a WR run past him, he gets benched one quarter. I don't care if it's incomplete pass. He needs to be mentally focused. If he can't be, that's on him and I don't want to hear McVay being responsible for Peters' deficiencies.

2) It's only practice, but we need to focus on tackling this week. Too many missed tackles this season.

3) Dial up some occasional blitzes. We had trouble getting home with a 4 man rush this week. Send a 5th. Especially necessary this week.

4) Start playing defense from the 1st snap until the final whistle. Sick and tired of watching the Rams giving up 7 on the first drive.

Winning in general turns fans into entitled, whiny piss babies in the slightest face of adversity. I was no different too during gameday.

I don't think that will solve the issue. I think Phillips needs to recognize when he's having problems covering a #1 WR. If he is, get him some help. Simply benching him until he "gets it" won't work IMO. They'll trot him back out there and, if the WR is just better than him that day, the problem will persist. Get him help if it's evident that he needs it.

I agree. Especially last week... very sloppy.

3) Dial up some occasional blitzes. We had trouble getting home with a 4 man rush this week. Send a 5th. Especially necessary this week.
Be careful with this... had they blitzed against Brees, it could have been even worse. Blitz against Wilson and he'll run free. That's not to say they shouldn't blitz at all... just be careful and pick your spots.

4) Start playing defense from the 1st snap until the final whistle. Sick and tired of watching the Rams giving up 7 on the first drive.
Agree again... but all teams script that first drive. They put all they learned from tape into it. I remember the Rams, under (I think)Schottenheimer... they looked like world beaters that first drive. Then? Nothing. But I agree... probably need to step it up even more in the first quarter!

Acually surprised at those on this board who have turned to whiney piss babies and saying dumb shit. Smh

Funny how people start falling for their own bs with expectations they creates in their head that were never realiatic to begin with. Idc about being undefeated, or about the media who they think are the best. I care about getting out of the regular season healthy and into the playoffs period. Let them have their darlings, we have plenty of time to straighten our D out before the playoffs.

You are right...the sky is not falling. And yeah, some need a little reminder of where we were. But that been said, there are a few problems, but I believe can be fixed. I don't look at the game through madden heightened glasses and say it's a failure we only win 89% pct of the time. Yeah, when things get tougher, we'll need better performances from some guys. But we'll also be in position to make those plays. We'll end up having the playoffs go through our house. The Saints only inherited the bullseye for the moment. We can just be that team everyone has forgotten about, that continues to gel and become the very big dawg, most believe we should be. It will happen.
