I guess my concern is Wells. Should have just put him on IR for the year.

Yeah. The new rule is good and dumb at the same time.
 
Not sure what to make of this.
Might have been more severe ankle injury for Rok than we knew.
Smith might have surpassed him on the depth chart and this was the least disruptive move at this point.
Still disappointing.

Is he able to practice with the team if he's on IR?

I kind of figured this season would probably be a mulligan for him, as he learns a new position in the NFL, but I had higher hopes for him next season and the year after. I'm just hoping that this year doesn't end up being a wash and he essentially has to start as a rookie again next year.
