I would not be surprised if the league implements some sort of in-game video assistance on a limited basis sometime in the future. Seven officials just can't keep up with the speed of the game. For the most part I think they do a very good job but all the video replay that is available now shows a lot of calls being missed.

All those calls mentioned in this thread were so obvious too. That's the part that is infuriating. The refs had to literally force themselves to pretend that they didn't see all that crap.

freaking bullcrap. They need to crap can 1 or 2 of the clowns on that crew this week like they did to that blind zebra last week.

The NFL fired one of the referees??

I thought the refs were pretty liberal with the flags over all. There were only what? 4 total penalties?
I don’t know what the Rams can do about the Donald/Suh situation. There were 2 replays I recall that were showing a GB highlight and clearly showed them being mugged.

It seems that holding is only called on running plays. Seriously. The NFL does not want to interfere with high flying passing attacks, but runs fall under the same old rules.

The Refs definitely let the guys play yesterday. There were a ton of missed calls but I feel it was by design. I'm sure we had some holding calls that went our way as well but we don't put those under a microscope for obvious reasons. However, the holding calls on Cooks. Want to know why Alexander was all over cooks? Because he literally had a hold of his jersey so he could keep up. Even the announcers were calling it on back to back plays where the refs turned a blind eye.

Letting guys play is one thing and not calling penalties on guys that dont change the outcome of the play. But when you're throwing to your WR that's being held on almost every play. That's a different story.

There was a blatant hold on the big run for a TD late in the game and no call so...

I don’t know what the answer is but the refs are missing WAY too much. It’s like we are getting penalized for being a very disciplined team.

The tripping and secondary holding were criminal.. anyone else catch the BLATANT hold by Pack’s LT on Ebukam?! Literally you could see it on screen a big ole hug and hold from behind while I believe Aaron was either rolling out or a running back was scampering to left side of scrimmage, I was yelling at my tv! My poor girlfriend had to tolerate my constant complaining!!

I’m sure we had a few too, but it’s becoming comical. I get it, it’s primetime so you want a nice, fluid game but cmon! These penalties and noncalls are costing people games and jobs, man.

Don't know what the answer is, but if the refs called Offense holding or Defensive PI by the book, there could be 50 penalties a game.
Saffold's hold was pretty obvious, but in light of all the calls they didn't make, it causes frustration

I feel I'm very objective in watching a game, (I seen more than a few plays we should have gotten called today) but holy crap. The non calls we didn't get today were absolutely blatant and have no idea how they weren't called. It's not just our game, I seen crazy crap on other games last week as well.

League needs to start suspending or firing these bastards like they did last week to start increasing quality.
Yea, the hold called on Saffold when he had the Quinn/Donald blocking technic, really surprised me. It never gets called.

I always stick up for the refs (cause I am one) but yesterday.... yikes.

*I will, however, stand by the fact that they don't do it on purpose.
BS. They are doing it on purpose. It is what the NFL wants. The NFL doesn't want a flag fest and the players no it. So this is what you get.

No. If they called it by the book all the time, the players and coaching would adjust. Then at least we would have a game that couldn't be controlled by the ref or any other entity. To me it just makes it impossible to tell when the fix is in.

It was mention earlier. When penalties are not called it lets one player play, but doesn't allow the other to play.

Nevertheless it is holding still regardless of our players dont get the calls. It’s a refereeing issue over the whole NFL. It’s horrrible and been for years.

I would really like McVay have someone go over the film of yesterday's game and screen shot/GIF every time a Ram player is held from behind and caption it "Not a Hold".

And then right below those pictures show Saffolds hold and Caption it "Holding Penalty"

And then right below that ask the question "Explain the difference between Saffolds Holding Penalty and the Non-Holds on the Ram players?"

And send these screenshots/GIFs to the NFL for their response

The one I would really like explained was the tackle on Barron when he fought thru it and got a safety.

I know it would have been declined but still that tackle of him was ridiculous without something called.

They fired a ref last week for blowing calls... I think the ref worked the chargers' game, it wasn't ours. I think it was the 1st time a ref had been fired mid season like that in a long time.

Yup it'll happen.

There are something like 10-20 cameras at every game. Every angle is shown, we at home see WAY more than the refs do.

They need more guys on the field, you are right 7 isn't enough.

They also need an on site video guy who can throw flags.

Both of those sideline catches were clearly in and the ref was on top of the play both times. Really not sure what they look at sometimes.

When you get too close, it's more difficult to see. I got a low evaluation for that very thing 2 weeks ago in a High School game.

Normally I don't get all bent because bad officiating usually evens out but let me air out my grievances. My wife is a whiners fan so she's objective when I show her replays (of course I'm biased but try not to be). She said the Rams got freaking jobbed.

On the Packers first big play of the game, I couldn't see the number, but a Rams DL was getting a hands to the face right in front of the ref. A minute later, the Packers scored.

Brandin Cooks needs a new Jersey because his got shredded from all the grabbing he took from the Packers.

On the Rams safety against the Packers, Baron was being tackled by a Packers O lineman.

Two calls got overturned (in the Rams favor) in the last few minutes before halftime (WTH - we playing in LA or Green Bay?). Cooks catch looked like a no brainer to me.

In the second half, Goff gets hit after sliding down and giving himself up. (If it was Brady, the whole field would have been yellow).

Roger Saffold got called for holding in a crucial moment down the stretch. Yes, it was holding but at least F-N call it on the Packers too!
