I just read in the GREAT BLUE NORTH report (http://www.gbnreport.com/rookiereport.htm) that Bennie Cunningham won their Rookie-of-the-Week award for his outstanding game against the Bears! That was the 3rd time in 4 weeks that a Rams rookie (Zac Stacy and Tavon Austin winning the other two weeks) has won the award. When you add Alec Ogletree, T.J. McDonald (I do think he will be a huge asset to the Rams Defense now that he is healthy!), Stedman Bailey, Brandon McGee and Barrett Jones I personally think the Rams 2013 Draft was an A+!

I thought Lacy ended up beating out Stacy for ROW a few weeks ago

but agreed, the draft class is looking better and better each week. Hopefully we don't see the "sophomore slump" that comes next year

Man thats sweet...

Lacy doesn't look any better than Stacy (lol.) They have different skill sets but are very close in terms of overall talent.

I agree. The 2013 draft appears to be a strong one.

Austin, Ogletree, and Stacy... That's 3 starters.

McDonald appears to be a starter... That's 4.

Any draft with 4 starters is excellent!

And there are others; Bailey, Cunningham, etc. still TBD.

I really wish I could find the article(I think it was by Gil Brandt) but a couple years ago I read an article about how a good draft will come out with 2.7 starters on average. When you factor in our extra first rounder, you could take that up to 3.7 for a good draft for us. That's for a GOOD draft. I think they will hit that if the kids continue to develop. The other variable in that article was how many Pro Bowlers a good drafting team selects which is what makes a draft excellent. That part I forget. I think I forgot it because of how depressing it was when you compared it to the Rams drafts in the past. :disappoint: That's the part that this regime's drafts still need to prove. Can any of them develop into Pro Bowlers? I think Ogletree can. Austin can as a PR/KR. From last year's draft, I think the only ones that have a good chance are Hekker or GZ.

This regime is much better at drafting, there's no denying that, but it still remains to be seen whether they can draft Pro Bowlers AT KEY POSITIONS. That's the part I'm waiting to see. I want to see them draft a Pro Bowler at CB, S, DE, OL, WR, or QB.

But we already have a (future) Pro Bowl QB on the roster.

I think its an understatement to say its too early to pass judgment on this year or last year's draft class in terms of Pro Bowl status. Someone like Jenkins for example has all the makings of a Pro Bowl talent, but people tend to forget he has played a little more than a season and a half.

That they haven't in their first two years, is just another example of how a lot of people have unrealistic expectations and want instant gratification. In a lot of ways, its says they are as good as they are gonna get and we don't give them the time to actually develop. I know it seems like a stretch NOW, but who's to say that Brian Quick doesn't turn into that sort of player? Who would have predicted someone like Dez Bryant being "this good" after his first 20 games?

Let them have the time to develop into the players they can become. Drawing any conclusions in the first 25 games or so is unfair.

Huge draft.

I think Bailey is a gem as well.

I agree! And, to think the Rams were able to get him in the later rounds is just that much more exciting! And, then you add Bennie Cunningham to the Rams RB's and as a Ram Fan you have to feel pretty good about your Running Game in the future! And, I still think there is a place for Richardson (change of pace & speed!) and possibly Pead on the team as well!

I understand that it's going to take a year or two. That's why I said, "That's the part I'm waiting to see." I do tend to think that Pro Bowlers tend to show themselves within the first couple years, though. Jenkins looked good last year but has looked bad this year. I haven't given up on him but I have less faith in him making the Pro Bowl than the players I mentioned.
