Detroit Lions cornerback Aaron Berry was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of DUI.
Jun 26, 2012 - Detroit Loins cornerback Aaron Berry was arrested early Saturday morning in Harrisburg, Pa., on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to WXKY-ABC in Detroit. Berry faces four additional charges stemming from an accident in which the car he was driving hit several parked cars in front of the Hilton hotel.
According to sources cited in the article, Berry was uncooperative while he was being booked. He refused to submit to a breathalyzer test as well.
Berry's arrest is not an isolated incident for the Detroit Lions. Running back Mikel Leshoure was arrested twice for marijuana possession. Defensive tackle Nick Fairley was arrested twice, and offensive tackle Johnny Culbreath was also arrested. All of those incidents happened since the end of the season, putting an ominous cloud over Detroit's offseason and leaving many to wonder whether or not head coach Jim Schwartz has control over his team.
The Lions issued a statement following the arrest.
[textarea]"We are extremely disappointed in the reports involving Aaron Berry and the incident in Pennsylvania this past weekend.
"This is not the standard of behavior we expect from any member of our organization. We have strongly and repeatedly emphasized the need to be accountable on and off the field, which makes this incident with Aaron all the more disappointing. We will have further comments regarding this situation when appropriate."[/textarea]
Berry issued a statement apologizing for his actions.
Signed in 2010 as an undrafted rookie, Berry was working with the starters in spring OTAs and minicamp this year.
