Austin Davis had some folks thinking he was Kurt Warner 2.0 for a minute there until it became clear he was just the Temu version

And we all thought they were a healthy Sam Bradford away from the playoffs...

What a shit show that team was. I still remember Cook pushing Davis on the sideline after HE dropped an easy TD pass.

Pretty sure it was Hayes that grabbed him and told him to unfuck himself.

The dead body incident happened in 2018, after Janoris had moved on to the Giants.

Janoris's brother was charged with the murder....!

wtf? I don’t remember Shaun Hill at all.
Crap, I sure do, unfortunately.

I somehow got it into my head that Shaun Hill could be the savior of our 2014 season.

We were 4-7 heading into week 12. Then we EXPLODED for a 52-0 thrashing of the Raiders. (What a fucking glorious game). Then the next week we continued to dominate and beat Wash by 24-0. 2 consecutive weeks, outscoring opponents by 76-0, to get us to 6-7.

I figured that if we could stay on a roll and finish 3-0 we could get to 9-7 and sneak into the playoffs. And I figured that Shaun Hill was the reason we suddenly lit fire. I wrote a post cherry-picking all his previous stats, how he was a "diamond in the rough", an "overlooked career backup" who had finally gotten things figured out at the ripe old age of 34.

Then that pudgy bastard regressed to his journeyman self, the Rams finished 0-3 to end the season at 6-10, and Shaun Hill was traded away the following year and disappeared into obscurity.

FUCK it was hard being a Rams fan in those days. I'd have to do all these psychological gymnastics to convince myself the Rams had a shot.

Which is all the more reason why I love being a fan now. This year I remained optimistic even after we started 1-4, because McVay is a goddamn genius. I'll never count us out as long as we've got McVay.

Lmao Damn you just took me down memory row!

Mf’r! I might have protected myself emotionally blocking his ass out of my memory!! :laugh2:

Remember that year and whipping those two teams in a row.

Just googled his ass… I do remember him vaguely

So after that Raiders bashing did you speed rush and custom order a Hill jersey?

Dude you’re 110% right.. those years were hard! I had to restrict myself ( more on the Spag days) to not watch anything because I could have become a serial killer…or a random flasher to get over those days! lol smh

Man those Fisher teams sure as hell had their ups and down right?

You can generally tell the newer Rams fans who only have known Shawn McVay and bitch about him constantly like they have any idea WTH they are talking about… they lived through those days!

Brought in from Minn to be THE back up that we needed to survive another QB injury. Worked well...

Exactly. I’ve had Sunday ticket since 2005. I never missed a game. The years between GSOT and were brutal.

Mental gymnastics was needed indeed. Back in those days, the bar was "any given Sunday we might steal a win". Expecting anything beyond that was a clinical delusion.

Meaningful football every December has been a pretty glorious minimum bar in exchange for our dedicated fandom in the McVay era.

But alas, without those 'misery loves company' days... I'm not sure I would have ever found this awesome RoD congregation.
Thanks for leading me to the light @Selassie I ! (12 years ago now. wow time flies)

Go Rams.

Well... the constant misery the team delivered to Ram fans back in those days had a lot to do with the creation of this site in 2010. ROD OG and creator @-X- just couldn't handle the over the top negativity that was spewed on other forums like the STL Today Rams Talk forum. The team was already serving us fans more disappointment and anger than we could possibly take... none of us needed to hear more constant pure bashing of our beloved Rams from what was supposed to be members of our Ramily (fan base). That's why he called it a place for Ram Homers... hoping that the Homer label would be a repellent to fans who would rather shit all over the team than try and find positives during those terrible years of complete dysfunction, stupidity, and ownership failure.

The team was able to dig itself out of a black hole to hell. Something that would have never happened without our change in ownership. Ram fans are in a completely different part of the universe today thanks to Stan and the team he was able to assemble.

The terrible suffering we all somehow endured back in those days allows us to properly savor and enjoy the positives the team serves us on the regular nowadays. Big Mahalos to all of us who simply would not give up on our Rams back then.... we kept the faith together back then somehow... and having ROD as a safe house for all of us homers was, AND STILL IS, kinda the opposite of what other sports forums and other social media platforms provide and promote. And let me say this... it is very difficult to keep our site different from the majority of the interwebs, but thanks to our members we have managed to stay true to our roots and not fall into the pits of misery that pollute 90% of everything on the internet.
