Gurley and Faulk are different cats.
Gurley is a fast, powerful runner who needs a hole, but even a small one and he's going to make you pay.
Faulk was more like Barry Sanders, a guy who could make cuts so sharp, they left slashes on the defense's uniforms like Zorro.
Gurley is MUCH faster than Faulk was in his prime.
Faulk had much more short area quickness and change of direction.
Faulk may have been a slightly better receiver. I say slightly because I still think people underestimate how good Gurley is as a receiver.
Also, Gurley is better in pass pro. As smart as Faulk was, Gurley stonewalls blitzers and dawgs like no one the Rams have ever had.
The better comparison is Dickerson and I like Gurley more because Gurley is a more complete back.
Granted, times have changed and RBs weren't really expected to catch passes as well as John Robinson could actually run that Student Body Right offense and win in the NFL, but Gurley is slightly faster and a bit more creative than Dickerson was.
As a side note, it's kinda crazy to think someone as big as Gurley is slightly faster than Dickerson. I think. Pretty sure.
That said, those 2103 yards are the benchmark.
