Hmm...good for Ganaway to realize his priorities. No shame in getting a college degree.

He seems like a kid that just kept it real and more importantly kept his act clean in the process.

Nothing at all wrong with finishing college.

Way to go Terrance! Best wishes with your future!

Best of luck to the kid. Will still have a chance to play football to in the future. Hope all works out for the best.

Guess if we keep 4 rb's on the roster it's pretty clear who we keep.

I was really pulling for him, he was big, fast, and talented. I guess he just saw the writing on the wall that he wasn't going to make the team.

I think he saw (or was told the likely) writing on the wall. All the best to him. To me Chase is the one out and Cunningham gets a spot with Richardson, Pead (after his one game suspension), and Stacy.

Agreed.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of Stacy on Saturday. Really, we only need to see Stacy and Cunningham now. They should get almost all the carries for the rest of the preseason.

First of all, let me add my best wishes for his success in his future endeavors.

I think that's pretty much the default now. That's assuming we keep 4 RBs of course. I'll bet Cunningham just heaved a huge sigh of relief.

I'm really happy that Ganaway didn't try to wait it out because now the remaining RBs will get more touches. :bg:

Exactly what I thought, but he's a smart guy and a hard worker, he will succeed in life with whatever he does. I wish him the best.

They couldn't have kept both him and Stacy, IMO. Stacy gets the nod.

I was expecting to see a story about his returning to Jimmy John's.
And I wouldn't blame him either. Those subs are hella good. Even the veggie ones.

:plus1:

Running back Terrance Ganaway, affectionately dubbed The Sandwich Maker because of his offseason job at Jimmy John’s, has decided to call it a football career.

Ganaway, the second-year player from Baylor, is leaving football to pursue a graduate degree. Slowed by a nagging hamstring ailment this preseason, Ganaway had fallen behind rookies Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham in the battle for backup jobs in the backfield.

Ganaway leaves the Rams without having touched the football via catch or carry in a preseason or regular- season game. Claimed on waivers from the New York Jets at the end of the preseason in 2012, he was on the 53-man roster all season but appeared in only three regular-season games without a touch.

He missed the 2013 preseason opener in Cleveland because of the hamstring issue, and then appeared in nine plays last week on the final drive _ a touchdown drive _ against Green Bay. With the Rams in the two-minute drill, he basically served as a pass protector and didn’t get the ball against the Packers.

So in the matter of three days, the Rams’ running back situation has gained a lot of clarity. Coach Jeff Fisher named Daryl Richardson the starter Monday and now Ganaway is out of the picture. That leaves Isaiah Pead, Stacy, Cunningham, and Chase Reynolds competing for backup jobs and pecking order behind Richardson.

Along with quarterback Robert Griffin III, Ganaway was one of the stars of the 2011 Baylor team, rushing for 1,547 yards and scoring 22 touchdowns. He set or tied 12 school records as a senior and was MVP of the Alamo Bowl. He earned his college degree in general studies in December 2010 and was named multiple times to the Big 12 Commissioner's academic honor roll.

Well, I never expected this.

I think he's got the talent to be on an NFL roster.

Best of luck TG!

Jimi has been saying how slow he looks in practice, wonder if he didn't put the off season time in and just doesn't "feel" it.

BOL TG we hardly knew ye

Good for him..at least he's smart enough to have something to fall back on.

I wish him the best of luck. I, like many others, was rooting for him because he seemed like a good kid. Who the heck wouldn't want to root for a professional athlete who made sandwiches in his spare time? I hope he does well in grad school.
